Issue with screwing the crown back in...
Ever since i bought my LV i have experienced that the crown does not screw in as smooth as on my Omega PO, i thought that it was just the way Rolex crowns were until i tried the crown on my friends SDDS.
It was silky smooth just as on my PO. I have searched the forum for similar issues and found that watchmakers use some type of grease "Fomblin" on the threads. Could this be that simple? I hope it´s not crossthreaded or anything... I have no issues screwing in the crown though, its just that gritty feel. Grateful for any input on the matter.

Could be just a simple bit of dirt on the threads and yes they do use Fomblin
on the crown tube, would doubt if its cross threaded. Most crown problems are down to they are not used enough, myself like to manual wind once to twice a week whatever watch I am wearing.

I will consult a watchmaker tomorrow, its also been off timewise approx. plus ~15sec/day as well so i guess it needs to be looked over in several aspects...

Fomblin is a brand name for simple hi-temp white grease............
A bit of dry air to blow everything clean, and a touch of grease and it'll probably screw itself on............

I use Vaseline Paste. It's thick, do not leak and do not stick to everything like silicone (main use small machines which should stay clean) .
But is it OK for watch gaskets ? |
