Americans, Canadians and Tudor

I asked a similar question a while back and didnt really get much of an answer. It seems you guys in the States and Canada have a soft spot for Tudor watches which is somewhat of a surprise. Over here, and in my living memory, Tudor watches were available from the high street and usually in a shop window next to Rolex. Never really seemed to catch on here, well not that I know of. Then all of a sudden they disappeared from retailers windows.
Just a few questions.
1. Why do you find them so appealing?
2. Were they ever available from ADs in the States and Canada?
3. Do you consider them on a par with Rolex
4. Any info on them would be appreciated.

Like I said, I used to see them in AD windows over here but not for many years, so I would be interested when and why they stopped making them.
Thanks

Sorry I know this is kind of off topic but I've been finding it very hard to get Canada related info PERIOD on this forum so far :-(

Same as the rest of the Internet though.. Rolex and Canada have no good resources for answers

Tudor have always been available in Canada. My AD in Hamilton has a wide array on display, including the new Heritage.

My AD in a small city also carries the Tudor line.

1. Because Tudor offers many Oyster options not available from Rolex such as a chrono w/ a date feature and jumbo DD's and DJ's, as just a few examples.
2. Yes, Tudors were sold in US AD's till about 2003 or so. Still continued to be sold in Canada.
3. I do, but some can't get past the ETA movement even though it's chronometer grade and modified by Rolex. Your mileage may vary.
4. Google will help.

Excellent. I have seen quite a few for sale over here and I must admit they do have some appeal, albeit without the kudos held by Rolex (in some peoples opinion). I believe they were made in the UK under licence to Rolex but will google to find out more. Thanks for that Dan.

All Tudors are made in Switzerland in the same factory as Rolex.

Agree with Dan on all points. #1 the date feature on the chronos is a big deal to me. But, also the Tudor design differs from Rolex just enough to make them appealing to me in much the same way Rolex design does; just different enough to be refreshing! #3, I have no problem with the ETA movement as far as quality and durability go.

Dan. Did as you advised and googled it and you are indeed correct sir, they are made in the Rolex factory. Just wonder why they no longer retail them at ADs over here????

That I don't know but heard that Tudor plans on a concerted marketing effort that will include the UK and US in the near future. No hard dates as of yet though.

I just tried locating a dealer in the UK that stocks them and drew a blank. I am kinda struck on the new Heritage Chrono. The more I look at it the more it keeps calling out to me
