Bezel Swap for SMP Chrono

I took my SMP out of my closet after it sat for over 10 years. I noticed that the bezel which is chrome with blue numbers and markers have been chipped off some so I purchased a knock off bezel for $20 from eBay. The seller states the swap will be easy and will not require nothing more than a pocket knife. Well, I was able to remove the bezel with numerous tries, but can't seem to budge the insert off. I tried for half an hour and finally gave up. I am going to bring it to a jewelry store that offers watch repair to see if they can do the swap. Has anyone tried to do this themselves? Or have taken it to a repair shop for the job? Here is a pic of my watch.

Hey Mate,

I always thought that the inserts were removable but OFrei's doesn't sell inserts only complete bezels so it makes me think that they may not be replacable. (Without damaging things.)

As for the non genunie part, good luck with that, as I have found very few non genuine parts fit properly or do the item justice.

Keep us informed as I would be intersted in knowing if your jeweller was successful.

Cheers

Unsuccessful. Actually a disaster! Ended up ruining the entire bezel, so had to order a new one. Lesson learned. I'm never going to try to replace anything that's not genuine on any of my watches.

Having replaced a slighty damaged bezel with a new one, I found that the watch looked almost new again, as there was no ding's, or scratches on the new bezel.

You'll notice a big difference with your new bezel fitted.
