Warranty Question?

Hello Everyone

I purchased a new M serial Explorer 1 in March of 2010. I have hardly given it much wrist time. It has become my Daily Wearer cause due to it's small size it fits nicely under all the winter clothes..Anyway I noticed that it's running exactly 12 seconds fast, now it might not be a big deal to some but for a watch of this caliber I do expect it to run according to COSC specs. My question is: Can I send it to Rolex Dallas for calibration under the warranty? And if so, what is the procedure to do so? Thanks in advance!!

Welcome.

Try your AD first as they can probably calibrate it for you.

Why not try the AD first? It might get you a quicker response.

I bought the watch at Morre Lyons Jeweler in New Jersey and he shipped it to NY for me. Didn't know for warrany stuff you had to go through the AD. Would it cost me anything?

So far, two people have said let your AD try regulating it. I say, don't let your AD within twenty feet of the thing in terms of working on it in any capacity. I've said it before, letting an AD work on your Rolex is fraught with peril. Don't say nobody warned you. ONLY let Rolex work on a Rolex.

They should do it for free.

If the AD has a Century 21 watchmaker in the back it's as good as going to Rolex.

Besides, calibrating a watch is a simple procedure and as you said in a previous post even a monkey can do it.

What is your negativity with AD's since you drag them all down?

Would Rolex contest the fact that it's running fast? Is there a special procedure to send it to Rolex for warranty repair? Thanks

Rolex main Corporate HQ and Service Center is in NYC.. You can drop it off yourself and wait for it to be regulated....

or go up the street for a cup of coffee and a bagel.......

If it is indeed running that fast Rolex would regulate it for you no problem.

My Explorer 2, New in July 2010, was running +6 seconds/day from day one. I waited 3 months to see if anything changes. It was still running the same rate. Rolex NYC agrees to regulate it under the warranty. However, I was there for another reason due to luminescent particle under the crystal.

Now it is running about +1.5/day.

RSC would be a safe bet, especially as you are nearby.
Although I have nothing against ADs, I have heard of some unfortunate incidents.

hi, if its under warranty get rolex to service it for sure, if you let any other person do work on it you void your warranty, and in the future it may have another problem and then rolex will say sorry, your warranty is void regards

I agree with this, I am not happy with anyone (even AD's) looking at my watches. Take it into a RSC and they usually do it while you wait (about 30 minutes).

X2. Just cannot see why they have to send any Rolex watch back to any RSC for such a simple task like regulation. To any watchmaker its a very very simple task with a timing machine takes around 20-30 minutes.

A quick regulation will do the trick--no need to send anywhere as said above!!

There have been many threads on the forum where AD's have shown incompetence followed by poor customer service standards, ie, one recent thread where the watchmaker at the AD scratched the hell out of the OP's watch and then said it was normal, then kept his watch and cash as he wouldnt sign a disclaimer. I know the majority of AD's with a Century 21 watchmaker will be fine, but what if you are one of the unlucky ones??

I think you should bypass the AD and go direct to Rolex for EVERYTHING!

AD and Rolex Dallas will be able to assist, under warranty. I like the suggestion to try your AD first, it could be a hour or so and you'll be ready to track the time after an adjustment is made. Rolex Dallas will be a much longer process, most likely weeks vs. day(s)...

if, after an adjustment by an AD you still encounter issues with +\- then consider sending to Rolex Dallas, 12 secs is excessive and in my opinion not acceptable for your watch considering the time of purchase and the current warranty...
