Icon20 9ct ladies W&D,Rolex Hallmarks

Hi, I am a newcomer and I am so impressed at the amount of information available and the passion that Rolex enthusiasts have.I have recentley acquired this beautiful 9ct Rose Gold Ladies watch which belonged to my great grandmother. I have had the watch serviced and it is working fine.Inside the outer case are hallmarks and the serial number that I cant find any info about, and I am hoping that someone may be able to help me.Cheers

Beautiful watch! You might get more feedback by posting in the Vintage Rolex section.

Good Luck!

'W&D' means Wisldorf and Davis the original proprietors of Rolex.

'375' means 375 parts per thousand is pure gold (a bit over a third, by weight) which is otherwise known as 9K gold.

On the dial 'Dunklings' was/is a jeweller/watch retailer with business premises in Melbourne Australia that had these watches branded with their own name. This was what the manufacturers offered at that time (which they did a long long time ago).

Dunklings, at one time many decades ago, was the most well known and highly regarded watch retailer in Melbourne Australia.

X2.Watch is from the very early 1920s at the time only about 1 in every 5 leaving the factory had the Rolex name on dial. The movement was made by Aegler who still make all the Rolex movements today but now part of the Rolex watch company.
