Constellation question

A friend came across the watch below last evening, used to belong to his late father-in-law. He's done some looking on the 'net but hasn't come up with a similar one without the "Officially Certified" under Chronometer on the dial.. Can anybody flesh out any info on this? Thanks.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

Cool pie pan man, looks fine to me, but obviously could use a trip to Bienne.

When you look at the Omega archives, for nearly every watch it says "may have been sold with different dials" or something to that effect.

Looks like a Pie-Pan model! Here was mine, not a pie pan though:

It looks like the crown has been replaced, if you open up the back you can get the case number and look it up in the omega database.

I suspect an earlier redial. Looks like a 14393 cal 561 model with two tone dial and we'd need a side on pic to determine if it was a domed dial or a pie pan. Certainly its printed as a pie pan but many redials were.

Note the chapter ring is somewhat inconsistently printed to the edge of the dial paint and the minute indices are not evenly spaced in relation to the applied markers.

I think this is a watch to project manage and keep clear of Bienne. Omega generally doesnt treat vintage Connies well and will replace parts with their nearest equivalent and commision only average redials.

Best have a watchmaker service the watch and someone like Kirk in California do a refinishing job IMHO

Cheers

Desmond
