Icon20 Which DJ II?

Which DJ II would be your choice? Why?
  1. The gold numbers on black dial is about the same as the gold Roman on black dial but a little more common looking due to the numbers.
  2. The gold Roman on black dial looks classy, formal and stylish, business like and can I say adds an aura of manliness cum reliability to the wearer.
  3. The green Roman on grey dial looks modern and unique, this was the one that first caught my eyes and sparked my interest in DJ II.

Between DJ II and Green Milguass which would you choose? If you plan on getting both but only getting one at a time which would you get first considering you already own a sub-c?

I love DJII's especially the TT, my late father in law had the TT Champagne/diamond dial and he loved it. I would get the middle of the three you have shown there and before the green Milgauss.

My only watch is a SS Sub-C LN, and when I got it, the other watch I tried on was a WG/SS DJ II with the arabic rhodium dial. That watch is absolutely stunning, but later on, while browsing through various pictures of that watch, I got more and more bothered by the date window. On an arabic DJ II dial IMHO the date wheel looks a bit weird: it's not rotated in the "right" angle to fit into the other arabics on the dial. For this very reason I wouldn't get any DJ II with arabic dial.

So I'd either get a DJ II with a roman dial or sticks (batons) dial. If I bought my 2nd Rolex tomorrow, it would be a WG/SS DJ II with a black sticks dial or white sticks dial. In case you only fancy YG/SS DJ II models, and you want to choose from the listed 3 models, then I'd get the 3rd one. It's a very unique piece, and in the metal it looks very-very good.

Quite frankly, I don't fancy the green Milgauss, so I cannot give your recommendations about that. It's a rather unique piece for sure, but IMHO the Milgauss looks better with the classic sapphire crystal. I'd only get the Milgauss as a 3rd watch, that's for sure.

And BTW, if I were you, I'd wait 12 days, and see what Rolex would roll out in Basel 2011. It may or may not be anything exciting for you, but if you "burnt" your watch budget before seeing the new models, it may lead to a bad situation choosing the "wrong" Rolex...

The black arabic dial is absolutely stunning. We've got it on the DJII we have in stock at the moment, it looks wonderful. Really makes the entire watch pop out at you

I think #2 is the most stunning. Definitely the one I would go with.

I'd go with 1 or 2 (I prefer 2 but 1 is also great). The numbers are a little harder to see on 3.

I had narrowed my selection down to a DJ and Milgauss and went with the Millie and never regretted it, but I'd suggest you go with what sings to you.

From these choices, I would say #2. Of all the DJII's I like the SS/WG model with white dial. My two cents.

2, then 3, then 1. All are superb, though.

as i do "fit in this category".... i'd get the DJII then the GV. the DJII would be the no.3 in your selection

after that, you may want to consider a GMT of some sort

You are right! I didn't really focus on that until you mentioned it. It does look out of place with Arabic numerals, the date window looks quite out of place/angle.

Yeah you guys are right, #2 and #3 wins but its a hard fight between the two! About $8500 is the best price I managed to find online for either piece...is that a rip off? What would be a good price?

Should I worry about fakes for #2 or #3, are these even faked at all?

If it was me I'd buy the DJII first and then the Milguass second. As for picking one out of the three options is not going to be easy because I like the looks of all three. Go with your gut...and which one will bring you the most happiness!!!

If the DJII, I would say Number 3....but, I would take the Milgauss GV before any of the rest!

Good luck!

cant help you with the prices (as im in a different country.), but here is a "tip" - one of the good things about the DJ(II)/DD(II) is that you are able to change the dials quite easily.
i would suggest you to ask your dealer the ways around it .

from memory, here in the UK, if you buy from an AD, you will be able to change dial once within the first 3 months of purchase, as long as the dial you want is within the "options" of that model. im sure Chris will correct me if im off on this

That's absolute correct I think there's a nominal fee of £50, it's not much. Alternatively, you can just ask the AD to order one for you with the right dial before you buy

I picked this one
It can be both classy and casual, and is more "Rolex" than the Milgauss.

If u limit it to those three. I'd go with number two.

But, the TT DJIIs just don't do it for me. A little too flash and not enough dress. I'd take the GV in a heartbeat.

Good luck!

The DJII is a great watch - very versatile. Of your choices I like #3. I also like mine:
