RSC Bexley : superfast service

A few months ago the fluted bezel on my datejust split spontaneously due to some unknown reason.
So I took the watch back to my AD for a new bexel. He told me it would take 4 weeks for an estimate from Rolex and a further 16 weeks for the watch to be fixed.
I was rung back in about 10 days with the estimate and again about 10 days later saying the watch was ready for collection!! Unbelievable, I had he watch back 3 weeks after I had handed it in.
Price was quite steep as expected : bezel + labour + VAT = £502.00
But I am quite pleased with it, the watch looks new with he shiny new bezel, and it even came with a bezel protector !!! (cant remember it it came with one when I originally bough he datejust about 15 yrs ago).

Well to be perfectly honest if you could have got the gold bezel its a less than 5 minute job to fit.And when you think of the amount of gold in the bezel thats quite a expensive price. As for labour if thats all they done was refit the bezel, IMHO should have been no charge considering price of part.

Have to agree with Peter. It is a part and to even charge for a 5 minute job is crazy. At least you have it back and it looks great. As for Bexley being fast- they had my 5513 Milsub for close to 4 months for a plain movement service nothing else. Not so sure they are fast! Cheers!

I've used Bexley before myself, and while not fast IMO, the work was spot-on!!

Glad you have her back on your wrist!!

We're beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with servicing times at Kings Hill (the Bexley site is no longer used) - once the backlog is cleared and they're running at max efficiency, we'll be seeing most modern gents' watches come back in 4 weeks. The new facility is truly world class, Rolex were so impressed by it, they'll be rolling out the same design worldwide

Chris, that may very well be the case, but it's still " DAYLIGHT ROBBERY "

I live in the New York metro area, that job could have been completed with an original part on your lunch hour, for about 150$... at almost any of a hundred watchmakers...

Thanks

NO I kept the bezel at home, told he AD it fell off without I knowing it.
I had posted on TRF many months ago when the bezel first split and was warned Rolex would keep the old bezel. Thanks TRF.

Good move, however if you decide to scrap the bezel for gold content, it is worth less than $50.
