Scratched my DSSD!!
Absolutely gutted isn't the word! Was messing around last night trying to change a bulb on the wife's Audi TT so she could go out and forgot to take my DSSD off my wrist before hand.
Come back in and took it off to wash hands and i've scratched the case just behind the Helium Valve at about 10 o'clock on the side of the case! Runs virtually from top to bottom of the case but not too deep. Could bloody kick myself! First time i've ever scratched a watch in 10 years of owning Rolex's! Don't want to send it back to get re-done as I think waiting time here in the UK at the moment is around 8 weeks, so anyone got any ideas how to tackle it myself and what to use? Regards, Mike. |

The first one always hurts the most
but at least now you can enjoy it!! Rolex also won't touch it to do any refinishing until it's due a service. I recently banged up my Sub and thought the world was coming to an end, but I've just learnt to accept the scratch MIke, how about we see some pictures of that lovely Everose Daytona 116505????

The scratches are something that I too, with great pain, have learned to live with....especially on my SS Daytona with the PCL's! Would also love to see a few pics of your awesome RG Daytona from your profile!! |

You could try with a Cape Cod cloth, considering that the scratch isn't deep... be sure to know touch the matte finished side of the bezel, though.

Know how you feel !
I wore an Omega SMP for 10 years before I bought my SD. That was my 1st love. Maybe after 2/ 3 years one night while drunk in some club back in the 90's - I got a scuff on the bezel ! Took me about a week to get over it. Now whenever I pull the watch out I barely notice it & even at service would make sure that it was a "non cosmetic one as every scratch\ scuff has a story ..... !! |

Put it this way- isn't is testament to the design of the watch that you forgot you were wearing it...?
Should put to bed alot of questions "Is the DS an everyday watch?". Depending on the scratch, cape cod but Bo gives great advice on where to use it. Please let us know how you get on.

If you're gonna use Cape Cod, here is some advice for you:
- Don't polish ANY matte finished with the CC cloth. - Be sure that the CC cloth is fresh and moist (if not moist, soften it with water). - Don't rub the watch too vigorously with the CC cloth... - Mind the sharp edge at the underside towards the caseback... do not run over that edge with the CC cloth. - If you get "swirl" marks after polishing, use the CC cloth again but ever so gently. - Be sure to wash the watch afterwards to get rid of the residues from the CC cloth. - Wipe clean with a soft cotton cloth. |

Oh, btw.: the cloth has a vanilla scent to it... if you don't want your fingers to smell of vanilla, use the supplied gloves (at least the large can version, a pair of gloves are included).
Also, the cloth will quick turn black when you use it... avoid running a used CC cloth over a high gloss surface since the black part of the cloth can contain microscopic traces of metal (from the rubbing), causing more hairline scratches..... |

Best of luck with this!
The CC cloth works wonders on small scratches, but if the scratch is deep (I believe you said it's not?), be careful not to remove too much material. |

It's a DSSD!
Tell everyone how you were working at 500m welding a section of an oil rig in the North Sea and while suiting up in your ADS 2000 atmospheric diving suit you scratched your watch on an an adjacent metal object. If anyone questions your veracity, tell them that you're a specialist who's only called out on extremely complicated missions and that you normally keep it quiet, but your grief at having scratched your DSSD caused you to lose your presence of mind. Or something like that. Sorry about your scratch. It's inevitable and really not worth the worry.
