I have decided - rather generously, I thought - to let my wife wear (as in borrow!) My beautiful blue Datejust.

She being on the petite side, several links have to come off of the jubilee.

I am now wearing my stunning rejuvenated 5513.

Is this bracelet shortening a job that can be done by a reasonably competent neighbourhood watch repair guy?

I am hoping to avoid the expense of a specialist.

Hi Subma,

With the correct size screwdriver you can do it yourself - piece o' cake!!

Just use cellotape over the screw heads, pierce through with the screwdriver, hold firmly on top and turn counter-clockwise. Presto!!

I have a set of screwdrivers thats for glasses repairs that I use for adjusting my jubilee bracelet.

You can buy a set of bergeon if you want to, but the cheapo one will do.

(I know its been said multiple times that its possible to do it at home, just posting to say again)

I don't know if I like the thought of all this poking about with screwdrivers! Where are the screws even??! (Not talking about the one in certain Commonwealth posters' noggins!) :)

But it sounds like an easy job for the next door watch place!
