As an engineer who works with parts many hundreds of times the size you do.. all I can say is Wow... I thank the whomever's there are people like yourself who take the time and dedication involved to study, learn and deal with these truly remarkable miniature mechanical devices. Fine job...

Superb, Nick! Thanks for posting it.
P.S., I guess you wouldn't want to sneeze right around the time the second pic was taken, huh?

Hi Al - if you think that one was complex than have a look at this beauty:
another Omega, but this time cal 1151 (Valjoux 7751) movement, triple calendar: This one takes approx. 3 hours. And no sneezing :-) |

This is a good pic to refer to when people ask, why do you like automatic watches over quartz?

And here is last one for today: triple calendar chrono PLUS moon dial
Zenith El Primero Cal 410. This little bugger could be tricky, now they start to get bit complicated - 5 layers of parts, most of them interconnected. Al - I can train you to do an overhaul on Rolex 3135 in 3 months. However with cal 410 it would take 3-4 years of practicing before I would trust you with my own El Primero :-) |

Damn, Nick. That's impressive. Great post. Love the pics. Really makes one appreciate their automatic timepiece a bit more, me thinks.

Absolutely amazing. I'd love to have a skill or learn a trade like that. Completely impressive. Kinda makes me want an Omega, too.

That El Primero is amazing I used to own a Zenith El Primero with a glass back (not a moonphase) but seeing it taken apart like that is almost hard to believe all those parts working in there together... thanx again for some of the most interesting posts on TRF!

Great post Nick great movement detail yes the elprimo is a complicated movement but still one of the finest.Got a high regard for the Valjoux 7750/1 range, myself had a speedy day date for many years,a very accurate watch.
