18238 DD Question

I am looking at a DD 18238 double quickset with the white roman numeral dial, but the day and date are in the champagne (?) color. Is that factory or has the dial likely been changed? Do they make white dials with either white or champagne day and date?

Thanks!

David

I have the white DAY and DATE on my 18238. The face is also white. All from RSC in NYC. I think you can pretty much ask for what you want there. I did. My 18238 originally came with a BLACK face but it was too hard to read at night so I swapped it at RSC for the white one with STICK markers (not ROMANS). Love it. Now selling it on ebay as I got a 118238.

What are the differences between the 18238 and the 118238, other than age?

What's the # of your listing?

the 118238 case lugs are slightly larger & polished & around 2004 the clasp was changed then in 2007 engraving on the Rehaut – Rolex has placed engraving the word "ROLEX" with the watch's serial number engraved at 6 o'clock) under the crystal on the area between the crystal and the dial. in addition to being heavier by 30%

Thanks! That answers that question.

As far as 18238 vs. 18038, I know the biggest difference is single QS vs. double QS. It looks like there is about a $2k difference between the two. Is it worth the extra money for the 18238? I am thinking it will always be worth a little more if I want to trade up later on.

Thanks. I knew they came in different colors, I just wasn't sure if they came from Rolex that way. It sounds like Rolex will change them to just about any color combination you want.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Questions are purely for educational purposes now because I committed to buying this 18238.

I hope to have it in my hands by the end of the week.

I'm so happy, very very happy!

It is easier for a dealer to sell a DD-President with the more desireable
white/Roman dial but who does not have the time or the resources
to change the day and date wheels as well-most likely this watch
started life with a champagne dial.
The DD wheels should be white as well for a better balanced look.

Wrong box but it is supposed to come with papers, so I'm fine with it. I believe I have the correct box for it. I'm buying the watch, not the box.

Thanks.

Looks good! I may change it in time as I do like the white and white combo better, but this looks stunning as well.

Thanks!

It is supposed to come with a PRESIDENT BOX - That box is the standard steel watch box.
The President box is much more grand....

Thanks.

I like the way the champagne day and date wheels contrast the white dials and blend in with the gold roman hour markers. I would not change.
