I got 20% on my air-king in 2007 when the new model first came out and in 2008 when I bought my Sub LV I got the same discount.

They have a 40 - 45% profit so please go for 20% and see what happens.

I did buy other stuff from this AD. about 9000 or so before my rolex shopping so I have no idea if that had anything to do with my 20% discounts.

I don't think it is that easy. It is not impossible but I think all things need to be considered. msrp is $7375 15% off is $6268.75...How many people have seen this number on a bnib submariner ceramic in the For Sale section?? I was able to get around 15% off before because I bought 6 watches at once...I think it is hit or miss and then some times you have add back sales tax which in NY is 8%
All gold is a different story

You can get 100% off too.

Just married a rich woman and ask for a Sub in wedding gift.

I think it all depends on what part of the country you buy it in frankly. The local economy plays a big part on whether an AD has to discount in order to move his inventory Usually no discounts at all on SS models in WDC, NYC and large metro areas. However, if you wanna travel a bit off the beaten path you'll find an AD with inventory he may want to unload. At least that's been my experience and that of others I know. Happy hunting!

Yes, absolutely, actual selling prices can vary considerably across the US, and as you note discounts seem to be harder to come by in larger cities, as well as in tourist areas such as Las Vegas and in stores that are part of chains.

Yes certainly achievable no problem. I have been buying SS Roles for years from different AD's at 20 or more pwecent off... HOWEVER, this ALL depends on the relationship you have with the AD, how many watches you have bough, buy on a regualr purchase

If this is a first or second purchase from an AD I would doubt it

Sure it is doable, but it really helps to have some history/connection with the AD and having pushed business their way. I've got everything from zero discount (but no tax) to 22% off on the Rolex I've bought from ADs. At some point, it is not about a percentage here or there, it is about getting what you want when you want it, from someone you trust.

3 weeks ago, I tried to purchase a SS Sub C in San Jose at two different ADs at Westfield Mall and no one would budge off of the MSRP. One did offer me a free watch winder if I bought then and there.....at full MSRP plus 9% tax. This was going to be my first Rolex and perhaps, it was the no relationship or the large metro area that caused this. But even on TRF, the best you can do on a SS Sub C is $6700 - $6900 BNIB or 9% to 6% discount respectively, with no tax.

Honestly, with those bigger chain stores I think a lot depends on who you talk to, and how your present your offer. I think you need to say "I want X watch, and I can get that elsewhere for X% off, if you can beat that deal I'd love to buy the watch right here and now."

Then if they come back with the "free watch winder" crap, just very clearly state that you aren't making it up that you can get that x% discount elsewhere, and you aren't trying to negotiate, just trying to give the local AD the business. If they keep gaming you, just leave.

Obviously, this assumes you are willing to actually leave, and that you have other options to get the watch at the price you quoted.

These discussions are more about shopping than they are discussions of Rolex watches.....

There are also dozens of recent discussions about "what's the best discount you ever got"... or "how much discount can I expect" and on and on....
