Icon5 Ernest Jones (uk AD) - waiting list

Hi,

Does anyone on here have experience of recently waiting for a Sub-C from Ernest Jones? I have had 8 weeks suggested to me (2 weeks ago) but I am dubious.

I know there are guys on here who can supply me one tomorrow but I am stuck with EJ (its a long story and you guys really don't want to be bored with it)

So am I going to be waiting 8 weeks or can someone offer me a glimmer of hope?

Good choice. I bought the same watch from EJ two weeks ago. What a watch!

I made an enquiry at EJ branch and was rang a week later by the Birmingham head office to advise me it'd be around 2 months, but possibly less.

In the end the watch was in store for me to collect around 3 weeks after the phone call. Therefore, if you have the same experience as me then it should be in store for you to collect in a week or so.

I would ring round the EJ Rolex stockists as per the link below;

http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstor...x_stockists.do

and see whether a branch has one in stock as in 8 weeks time there will probably have been a price rise in the UK!

8 weeks? I saw one in the AD in Selfridges a few weeks back. Sub Cs are out there.
I am not sure if you are near London or any big city however I bet with a day's shoe leather you will find one.

Which EJ branch is it? How about calling another branches and see if they can get you one sooner. An 8 weeks waiting list for a 116610LN is abit of a joke these days really....

From my experience EJ control the sales of the sub-C through their centalised prestige watch department in Brum. I don't think this particular watch woudl hang around in a branch unsold as it'd be whisked back in the central system to satisfy the waiting list.

That makes sense. Have not personally dealt with EJ in the past but have done so with other chain ADs. They operate the same way.

But I still don't think there is a shortage of 116610LN in the uk at the moment with a large chain AD like EJ. I think it's someone not doing their job properly within the company.

I walked into the EJ on Oxford Street in Jan this year and asked for a SubC he had one in that morning!

He had a list of about 3 people whom non of which answered their phones so I bought it

The dealer said he doesn't know when they expect them in. Rolex send them out randomly no consistency of when or where to maintain the exclusivity and kudos I guess.

I bought mine from watches of Switzerland on new bond street. They had taken delivery that morning. Right place right time.

That strikes me as "a total feckin' shambles". Still, everyone lurves a Rolex, don't they? Hey! ....don't they???? ;-)

I would just sit tight they will come through ! Have you been incontact with Paul anymore ?

As stated you have to use a Signet group branch and I know the one you are in contact with will do their upmost for you.

Like above they control the wait list from a central office so to speak so each individual branch is reliant on their allocation being sorted for them.

Will the wait time be as long as they stated ! Well in my opinion it wil be quicker as from experience they quote with a little leeway.

I have noticed that on release the Sub-C was on a wait list well more new model fever.. This IMO quickly died down and by Xmas time they were readily available even said branch has had a few in the windows and a sister branch down Westfield (White city) on a few occasions had the LN and LC together in the window.

But from my travels (shopaholic wife) I tend to go a few shopping meca's each month and noticed a few main stream watch shops now quoting wait times again I just guess the Sub has gained popularity maybe The GMT Master could chime in and say if he's noticed something similair in the AD he works at !

I do know for fact a few smaller AD's who have them now for sale though but this is no use to you as you have to use that chain, Know you want the Sub so just sit tight but you'll get a call sooner then you thing !

This gives me some hope. Sounds like you got lucky in that someone didn't collect theirs. I am hoping for the same scenario.

Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks Sam,

I know you and I have discussed this privately but I wondered if the wider audience could provide me with a wider range of experiences and therefore give a more likely outcome.

Hopefully they have applied the old adage "under promise, over deliver" but my experience with UK shops lately.. it generally appears to be the other way round.

The frustrating thing is, I have seen the one in Baker Bros (in Bedford) that you mentioned, and it is a whole 5miles from where I live..and yet I cannot go and get it.

Anyway, I shall just have to TRY and be patient!

Thanks again guys

Agreed - I've seen plenty about. Ring the airport AD's too (like WoS), and if necessary take a return internal flight to snag one at over 18% off!

I phoned an EJ in Welwyn Garden City and was told 3yr wait, "but they usually come in within a month" (so that's a months wait - no?) lol.....Phoned Watford EJ, they had one in stock, happy to allow shareholder discount, was wearing it an hour later.....Spend some time on the phone, you'll find one.

I agree Youngr and have seen them myself, however just not in Ernie Jones (frustratingly).

Which ones are in London?

Are all the Rolex listed stores on EJ site "Signet group branch" or only a few?

Please PM me if its easier

guys i was shopping in bluewater ernest jones casually asking a few rolex questions and manager says they had a green sub c in safe...i left a deposit there and then! right place right time..... by the way i think that they have a great way of buying a rolex as i was allowed to leave a deposit and as long as i payed the remainder of the watch within 6 months it was mine! no finance or anything just a small deposit and it was secured..

Deposits don't guarantee the price though if there is a price increase before you've paid the remaining balance off...I know from previous experience. The only way to guarantee the price is to pay for the item in full (as informed by UK trading standards)

None of the central London based EJs have the SubC in currently. From my personal experience Bluewater and Kingston staff seem to be more helpful than some of the other London based EJ outlets.

Mike there must be some confusion as i was in the AD yesterday and i asked that specific question as to wether i have to pay the increased price if the price goes up and i was told i pay the price that i left the deposit on. (£5290)

Just to clarify i left a deposit of £1000 about 7 weeks ago and ive been back a couple of times to pay some more off..surprisingly i cant pay over the phone i have to go to the store each time...also ive had the bracelet sized to my wrist and the watch is in its box in the safe for me to collect as soon as i pay the remainding balance...AND get this if i change my mind at any time i dont lose one single penny i get a full refund. I think that is top notch! (especially as the green sub is in demand)

I have to agree with this deposit bit/price remaining the same. I spoke with an AD in London just last week who said exactly the same (although the cost I was quoted was £4,970).

Dont you think it is pretty good of ernest jones though as say for example you found a watch that was pretty wanted and put a deposit down they dont hassle you for six months!!! that allows mere mortals like myself plenty of time to aquire some fine pieces...

The idea of waiting in line to give someone several thousand dollars for a watch just strikes me as odd.
