How long did your Honeymoon last.
Alright so first time Rolex owner with a 2 week old 2tone Sub. Had to buy the Cape Cod cloth for the polished gold after one week and now scratch pens coming in for the brushed parts. Amazing how careful I have been and scratches just appear by staring at the watch. I know in the end its just a watch but damn its a sweet one. How long did your honeymoon last before you just said she just isn't going to be perfect anymore and quit looking for new scratches?

When i bought my Sub Date ... i said to myself this watch i will have for the rest of my life ... i may have many other watches but this one i will keep no matter what. This watch will contain my life story on it. Each scratch i get does not devalue the watch but rather adds to the story line.

Gave up after smacking a door-jam. 2 weeks after first getting it.

The second I strap it on... Scratches are going to happen and there is no sense not enjoying the watch when you wear it... Careful sure worry about it...NO

2 weeks and then said screw it, it's only a watch, right ? RIGHT ? I went crazy after my first night out because the next morning it was scratched up, so that was that.

I got my watch in Feb and was pretty anal at first. I bought the cape cod cloth and once I realized I could cure any scratches at any moment, I stopped being so uptight. I also got a Nato for my GMT which has allowed me to enjoy the watch much more as I don't worry about scratching the band. I would still freak out, though, if I got any chips on my watch.

I'm not too fussed, like others have said a few scratches add character. |

I didn't have one. My sub is a tool watch, and that's the way I intended it to be since day one.

Two days, until I sat for an exam where I carelessly swayed my left hand on the table. That was that :(

The problem with any new watch is that every scratch shows up, over time, all of those scratches will blend together and become less noticeable. Enjoy the watch, forget the wear marks. JMHO

I've had my first one for a year now. I've got some scratches but the honeymoon continues. They are great watches and it puts a smile on my face everytime I look at it.

I always take my watches down to the workshop and put a few dings and scratches on them right away with a hardened chisel. Saves a lot of angst and worry and gives them that lived in look.

Normal patination is a natural thing. Let it be, and enjoy your watch, it's more than capable of handling a few scratches.

I am as careful as anyone could be without wrapping it in a protective material. I am an inveterate 'banger of watches against things' but so far (7mths) I have avoided anything other than a small abrasion & a small hairline scratch on the clasp. I do not like scratches or damage on anything I own and if & when it happens to the watch it will be off to a RSC. Taking care with it does not diminish pleasure of use or ownership at all. I have other watches to wear when I'm in the workshop or garden. There's no right or wrong with this - just what works for you.

The honeymoon for a new watch for me usually lasts a month or two, than I start dreaming of the next "last one"
It is amazing though how easy the gold versions develope swirls and small scratches. If you get too anal it'll drive you crazy. |

I've had my YachtMaster for 6+ months, I'm still careful with it for the most part because I'd like to keep it in good condition but sh*t happens when you wear it all the time. I wear it all day, everday and I'm an active person: golf, gym, house/yard work.
Luckily the seldom times I've accidentally smash it against something like a door, barbell, wall, etc... it's shown no noticeable scratches. The YM is MUCH tougher than advertised. |

I would probably say that honeymoon of approx 1 month for my GV but I still look for large scratches... so I'm careful.
The honeymoon for my SS Daytona is still ongoing. No way I'm going to let a scratch happen without me doing everything I can to prevent it. The honeymoon for my Sub probably lasted 1 month also, but I'm a lot more carefree now.

42 years and still on the honeymoon. Not because of me mind you. Other than my having picked the right girl.
