Used to own one at one time or another. I think the DJ is still more popular...

On here I think the sub will be by far the most popular.
Among non-WIS I suspect it would be the DJ... But they won't be voting on here!

A Rolex submariner (any), a Rolex datejust (any) & a Casio (any) are, IMHO,
a perfect trio as a base for a collection.

I own a Sub, and plan to add a DJ II. There was no such option, so I've voted for #1

Both are excellent watches. I prefer sports models so I have a Sub.

I got my Datejust in 1987, TT white dial with stick markers. I got my Sub Saturday, TT blue dial and bezel. Both are classics.

Of course, this kind of poll virtually entirely excludes the women's buying market, which is not insignificant. And among women, the DJ dominates by a very large proportion (I think).

16610 & 1680. Never thought too much about the DJ, until I saw Doc's beautiful vintage gold one on black croc , and then this great dial:

My DJ was my first and still anchors my small collection. I have never found a rational reason to flip it. The DJ and my EXPII are my favorites on the wrist for feel and daily wear.

The DJ never cut it for me- too small on the wrist, almost sloppy feeling compared to the Sub! I know many enjoy the classic style but they just don't work for me. The Sub on the other hand is one I always go back to. Love it for many reasons.

I thought the DJ and sub are two of the most popular models in the lineup. I have both but in modern current models, a subc and the DJ II.

I thought that the Sub in any of it's forms over the years was the best selling Rolex. It's the best known Rolex. Or at least I thought

Datejusts in all their various forms probably make up around half of all Rolex sales. More ladies ones than gents ones are sold (as there aren't any ladies sports watches, barring the Yacht-Master), although the gents one still sells in good numbers. Certainly a lot get sold in TT form, for many people, that's their idea of a classic Rolex

I have owned both. I would have to go with the Sub.
If I get in my 40s, I'd rather go for the DayDate instead of the DateJust. I don't see myself getting anything smaller than a 40mm for a long period of time... and the new 41mm DJ looks too big. Maybe, it's because I'm used to seeing the 36mm DJ. It just doesn't look proportionate IMHO... |

I have a SD and my GF wears a SUB Date... I have always loved the look and size of the DJ... I do plan to get one eventually!

Both are so common... think I see more Subs out there, however.

I have a GMT II and planning for a DJ. There are some funky dials for the DJ, so it's rather not a traditional watch only. I love to have the option to change dials on a DJ some day for a total makeover.
