Newbie say hello and I need some help
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum Actually I'm not new, I have known this forum for several months but back then, I didn't own a rolex so I cannot join rolex forum. I just think how can I join a rolex forum if I don't own one. So I just quietly enjoyed every post and pictures of the forum, I like this forum so much, especially JJ. It's heartbroken me when I read the post saying that he has cancer, I've been in insomnia for 2 days. And now, finally , I got my first and new rolex, the submariner no date 14060M , I bought it new from Goldsmiths UK price 3920 pounds ( just a day before it raises 7% , again , argggggggg , I hate this ) . So I can join the forum But I need some help Been wearing this for a few days, I feel something very unexplained so I want to ask some ideas from you 1/ Do you think I should flip it to the sub ceramic date or GMT ceramic 2, or explorer 1 Because I think although the sub date ceramic is expensive, I pay my money for some improvement. The bracelet, the ceramic, the blue hairspring For the sub no date, the price increase but the watch is the same for many years, they just increase the price for no reason And for the explorer 1 , also the price increase for some improvement So do you think I should flip it to another. Although the sub ND is fantastic, very comfortable for me , and I also like it very much. But you know we like many rolex, not one So do you think the sub no date worth 3920 pounds 2/ And one more thing, I'm addicted to the rolex triplock crown I like to play with it so much in the way that each day, I have to open and close, screw/ unscrew the crown 1-2 times per day It's fantastic , I love playing with it, the feeling of quality . So is this behavior bad for my rolex, will I break the crown or anything if I play with the crown so much. 3/ And I also have the feeling of unsecured. I heard too much about the crown left unscrew when swimming. So it's like sometimes I have to check the crown, twist it to feel if it secured. So is it bad for the gasket ? Sorry to ask so much because this is my first time. You guys know what I mean, first time is always hurt, hard to make it right, and always have the feeling of whether we make the right choice ( it sound gross but don't get me wrong here please ) Finally, I hope JJ will get well soon. |

1. Don't flip it, unless you'd really rather have the other watch. It's a classic. Do you plan to use the bezel? The Exp is a very different watch.
2. No, it should be fine. You're probably not doing the gaskets a favor though and you could cross thread it by accident, in theory. 3. You can't really over tighten it. Just use gentile force until it's locked down. 4. The old bracelet was more than fine for decades, it still is. If you don't like it, get a sub C. Enjoy your watch. If you take it in the water, you should pressure check it every 12-24 months.

I would say keep your Sub and enjoy it!
Why go messing with the crown all the time? It can handle being unscrewed every day, but why? If you trade it, you will have to spend more money and you may live to regret your decision, but in the end it is what makes you happy. I personally like to have a watch with a date, but I still enjoy non-date models.

LOL, I feel your pain... I couldn't sleep well for about a month when I had Rolex fever. That was before I broke down and bought a pre-owned GMT II. :D
1. If you don't lose too much money, and your AD is willing to take it back, you can consider the Sub date, as I find the date comes in very handy in a watch (personal preference). 2. I would advise not to play with the crown. Not because you'll break it, but because you live in Vietnam and the weather is humid. Every time you unscrew the crown, moisture will get in. When too much moisture gets in, the dial may become moldy, or there will be condensation on the glass. |

hi congratulations on your new watch. if you want to play around and experiment with it purchase some nylon nato type straps. they come in all different colours.

I've been wearing sport model Rolex since 1973 and bought a 14060 jsut three years ago. Should have bought one earlier. You've got a great watch and a real classic.

Thank you very much, I'm finding some information about the nato straps. I'm just worried that it will get dirty , I sometimes shoot ketchup to my rolex in spite of my double whooper burgerking
