Amazing Patek Story...
I just saw a story on the Today show...A World War 2 bomber pilot was shot down and taken prisoner in Germany. On a whim he ordered a Patek Philippe watch and promising to pay for it when he was released. Four months later they sent him one at the POW camp! Fast forward, several years ago it was stolen...When the people at PP heard about it, they sent him a free replacement...anyway, the video is here...http://www.today.com/ Really cool story.

What amazes me is how they managed to send the watch to the camp in the first place at all! Amazing story though, thanks for sharing.

He got the watch delivered to his prison camp where he was being held as a prisoner or war?

Rolex also was known to send watches to POW's during WWII.
I know its crazy but somehow they allowed the POW's to get these and keep them yet they looted their non military prisoners and treated them less than human.

There was honor in those days between officers of opposing armies. The Orientals were not so nice to any prisoner of war in WW2, Korea or Vietnam.

Does anyone have a direct link to this story? Couldn't find it on the Today show website...
