First Flip?

I am thinking about flipping my GMT IIc, which I rarely wear, for a late model or NOS Blue 16613.

http://www.luxurytyme.com/articles/7.html

Really sings to me compared to my GMT IIc.

Thoughts?

I own a 16613 blue, go for it. Remember, there are lots of those for sale out there. The two second hand watch stores near me have eight between them. You should be able to get a good price.

So general consensus is buy this preowned and get in for about 60% of what it cost in 2008?

I saw a guy in town today with a TT sub on, I spotted it from a mile away! Real eye catcher.. I think you should do what ever sings to you most. Only thing is the GMTIIc is a newer watch, you may regret going "back a step" in the rolex line up?

Good luck.

The general consensus is buy what you like

I personally find that model...how shall I say...a bit loud. Not a fan. However, there are Rolexes for every taste.

The idea is to go for watch that YOU like, not the one that is most popular, or most sought after...
If Bluesy smiles on you - go for it!
If I were you, I would do it in a heartbeat, 16613 is IMHO one of the most beautiful sport watches ever!

Funny but I'm actually in the opposite situation...I'm thinking of selling my 16613 to get a GMT IIC. This is my second TT Blue Sub and when I look at it I think it's the most beautiful watch on the market but when I wear it I feel that it's too loud. I'm a huge fan of the watch but I never wear it. You may want to take that into consideration as the GMT IIC is a very nice and understated watch while the TT Blue Sub is quite loud.

LOL to the never sell comment! I have a 1965 GMT 1675 so I have the GMT thing covered and with a GV, Daytona and SD, I have most of the modern niceties as well. The new clasp on the Subs just doesn't work on my small wrist - it covers the entire bottom of it! I had to send my SD and GMT 1675 to Rolex to remove a permanent link to center the clasp. So, to get a touch of gold and the blue I like, that looks like the model. I agree it is blingy, but not as much as the serti dial and certainly not as much as the all gold model.

The 16613 has the best blue I have ever seen in a watch... You do not look at it to tell time.. You look at it because the deep shades of blue are wonderful..

For the price , I think I will go for a deep sea
I really don't like 2 tone
It's all gold, or it's all steel
2 tone for me is like a bodybuilder who only exercise the upper body

I agree if it is singing to you, go grab it and flip away especially if you are not wearing the GMT much

Not a fan of TT, especially the blue. I wouldn't do it, but if it appeals to you, definitely do it. You go around only once.

Had a GMT IIc and never got used to it. Have a blue Sub and love it. Flip it and be happy.

Best,
