Just bought a speedmaster and now I need a strap...

Just bought a speedmaster 3750.50 moon watch on eBay from sabashioyakiz1. He seems to have a great track record. I'm very excited to receive the watch. My question is I am looking for a leather strap for the speedmaster. Is the lug size 20mm? I found a Hirsch strap on eBay that I am trying to verify if it would fit. Thank in advance for your responses.

Nice catch, the Speedie lug size is indeed 20mm and looks great on leather steel or NATO

Yep, you are correct that a 20mm strap is the right fit. Congrats on a fantastic watch! You will not be disappointed! I personally recommend trying some variation of brown gator. It's been on mine since day one and when I tried switching to the original metal bracelet, it came back off in about 5 minutes for not being nearly as comfortable. I think mine will probably be worn on some variation of strap (be it leather, gator, nylon, etc.) it's whole life with me.

Black Rallye strap looks great on a Speedy, gives it that whole 60s Le Mans look.

Thanks for the replys and great pictures everyone. I believe I've narrowed it down to the black hirsch knight strap with the white stitching. I know I need to order the 20mm strap however, are there different sizes in these straps? My wrist size is approximately 7 inches. Thank you. Counting down the days till I receive my speedy.

I went with the Black Oem strap as a second option to the bracelet.

My favorite Speedy Pro strap is the gold brown Hirsch Medici:

This one is new but over time it will acquire a vintage patina like the one on the left:

You can use the Omega foldover deployant with it.

My Speedmaster arrived this afternoon!

A couple of pics of my new watch on a Black Alligator. I like the Medici strap posted here and I definitely want to get that perforated racing strap. I am so excited about my Speedy...it was a gift for my 30th birthday (my first mechanical watch) and I cannot stop looking at it and checking time almost every minute

The strap looks good on you.
It fits well with your wrist I see.
Did you get the original strap and clasp from Omega?

Try Carbon Fibre Hirsch Strap, they also look awesome on a speedy.
Enjoy!

Custom all the way. Deep Red made by Peter Gunny, 20x16 to match an Omega buckle I had. It's a dark burgundy (doesn't photograph that well, it looks darker in person) with black-brown edging in a nice medium-soft padded calfskin. His straps break in really nicely, they develop patina very quickly.
