Wan't to buy a 14060M
Hello!
Just discovered this great forum! My next watch will probably be a Sub no date (14060M). I'm a little bit concerned about the lack of chronometer certificate. What accuracy can I excpect? Or should I wait 'til next year when all Rolex watches will be COSC tested? David |

I'd say you're looking at a very accurate watch, whether it's COSC certified or not. An experienced watchmaker should be able to make some very simple, minor adjustments to the movement to get it running at -6/+4.
In my opinion, the 14060 as it is right now (non-COSC certified) will probably become a collector's item sooner or later, and having one would be a nice piece of history. The new versions will most likely come at a premium, since it costs Rolex around $250 per movement, per test to certify the watch and that expense is almost certainly passed along to the consumer. If I were you, I'd go with one that an AD has in stock and avoid the risk of a potential price increase when all the models are COSC. Good luck! |

I've had three so far and the accuracy is spot on It's the lack of a date that's tough

You can expect supurb accuracy. The same movement that powers the 14060M also runs the Explorer, a watch that is COSC.
I know several owners that have 14060Ms running from +1 to +3 a day. There's been a lot of discussion on COSC testing, a lot of it is marketing. Here's a nice little read, http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...oto=2063&rid=2 |

I had a 14060 (pre M) dating back to 1999, after a service from RSC it was spot on at 0 to +1 sec / day.

There are folks around here which would love to own certain pieces but have not got their hands on them yet.
Eg Mike would love to own the new GMT II but is sure holding back in pulling the trigger.. This 14060M is something which I would love to own. Just like the 5513 too which a piece in good condition is so tough to come by.. |

I bought a Z series about 4 months ago, I wear it everyday and store it face up at night. 4 Months later it is +3 seconds.
Highly recommend! |

I own a sub no-date too. Never mind the not having a date, that is exactly what gives the watch it's distinctive appearance. The regular SS Sub date is so ubiquitous that wearing one does not make any special statement (even though it's a great Rolex.)
Many watch lovers consider the simplest dial to make the most powerful statement, i.e. discriminating taste, grown- up and not needing sub-dials, bells, alarms, whistles and other gew- gaws... I am obviously not yet completely grown up as I love my SS Daytona... Larry. |

Don't worry too much about the COSC rating, it is overrated.
Many 14060M owners claim that their watches are running well within COSC specs. If it's an issue for you, then wait for the "new" no date to come through, which will be COSC approved. If accuarcy is paramount to you, then don't buy a mechanical watch at all, go quartz. I bought a US$5.00 quartz (that's right 5 bucks!) in the US 2.5 years ago, and it is still running on the same battery within 10 secs. Believe it or not! Now back to the 14060M, the look is there, the accuracy is great, enjoy the watch - THE END. John. |

Welcome to TRF, David.
Great choice of watch....if you can live without the date feature. Cheers - JJ

It's a great watch. Since I let Nymans Ur do a small regulation it's spot on - in the last week, it hasn't lost or gained a single second!
I don't know if you frequent the Swedish Time to Talk forum, but there you can find a new Z-series 14060M for SEK 25 000... I'd love to see your DJ! |

It has lug holes! Just can't see it. This was right after I bought it, so you can still see the plastic on the sides. Maybe that is hiding the lug holes.
But since then took off the hologram and all the stickers. Wearing it now as I write. Another pic. |

The 14060M still comes with lug holes only and the older non-SEL FLIPLOCK bracelet - no choice!!

I have a 5513 which no date hasn't bothered me all these years. I rarely look at the day or date on my president.
