Future Submariner
A question for all sub lovers out there. And a hint to Rolex.
Do you want the sub to remain as it is? If not, what new features would you like to see in the 2008 sub? Same movement? Size increase? 40 to 44 maybe maxi dial? bigger hands? ceramic bezel? Polished centre links? (SS) Return of the RED submariner? (about time) you tell me |

I think the only thing that needs changing is the clasp and.....that's about it!! The rest is iconic and classic Rolex!!

I would love to see an ss sub with the supercase, maxi dial, new clasp, and red writing. Not polished links or ceramic bezel for me..

Sorry IMO why change a true Rolex icon its been around now for 50 plus years with very little change. So fat hands, thin hands, lug holes no lugs holes sel non sel, maxi dial plain dial. Now the Cal 3135 has been around now for almost 20 years. So expect the new in-house parachrome hair-spring will be added soon, sure a lot complain about the clasp. But lets be honest it have served its purpose well over 30 plus years.Yes I would like to see some improvement in that department. But if its not broke why fix it,as for the Red writing well for myself there is only one Rolex red sub and thats the vintage ones.

But I imagine that Rolex WILL change the Sub Date, but not the steel one to start with. Probably, Rolex will change the GOLD Sub and then the TT and finally the SS. That is what happened with the GMT II. By "change" I mean: Change of the current case to the "GMT Case" Change of the current dial to "Maxi Dial" Change of the current bracelet + clasp to polished centre links and Easy Comfort link (maybe a special, longer version on the Sub). SAD changes, but I DO think they will happen eventually, but not before 2009 and that will be the GOLD Sub to start with as I state above.

Well,.. I'm a big fan of the maxi-dial and the easy out link is pretty sweet.
Past that...... |

Movement: The current mov't is fine w/ me Size Increase: 42 would be great Maxi Dial: Yes, It makes reading the watch easier. Bigger Hands: As long as the size matches the face of the watch Ceramic Bezel: I prefere the bezel as is but I wouldn't cry over a new ceramic bezel Polished center links: I like the brushed links as is Return of the Red submariner: Yes, that would be a nice collectors' item. |
