UPDATE on my new 320 issues...
Hey all, I haven't been on the forum for a while because of my watch addiction rehab ( Yes, my wife has me seeing a therapist!). To refresh your memories I had bought a brand new 320 and one of the pushers for the quick change was already pushed in a bit. So I sent it overnight to the Fort Worth service center two weeks ago. I received a letter from the today saying they are going to replace the case and its covered under warranty. Thats the good news, the bad news is it won't be ready till Sept 9th! I actually said to my watch before I sent it in" See you in the fall gorgeous" so no surprise there. They also are going to do a long list of maintenance stuff which I guess you need to do when replacing the case. The one thing I don't understand and I've heard it from a few other forum members as well, is they say that they received the watch in horrific shape! My watch is BRAND NEW and they said it had dents and scratches on bezel, crown cover scratched and dented, crystal scratched, case completey dented, caseback dented and clasp worn (I sent it in strapless)!?! I really don't care because I know my watch will come back like new but I was curious as to why they did this. I'll keep you guys posted! Have a great summer

Glad you sent it in. That is a costly repair and why I'm scared of that fancy system. When it goes bad.........................it goes baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad and is $$$$$$$$. Sucks about the time...

I think you have nothing to worry about. It will come back looking new. It's the waiting that sucks. I was also always worried about that ingenious quick change strap system. Never failed me, but I had those concerns. Lucky we don't hear much about any failures though..

Total bummer about the wait. That is a LONG time to wait, albeit probably 'normal'. Hey sounds like a good excuse to get another PAM before the price increase (just don't tell therapist)

you need to get on the phone ASAP! it is either not your watch they are referring to or it was damaged in transit, that could explain the wait as I would think a case swap would be a simple job,and I very much doubt that Panerai would replace a scratched crystal under warranty or dents to the case? you could get a bill at the end of the wait and will then find it hard to then explain why you didn't correct their mistake earlier, they can do an amazing job on repairs but I wouldn't want my new undamaged Pam repaired, they will do a good job on it but will it be the same as a new watch when you get it back after all those repairs? and if you ever sell this watch you would have to disclose it was totally refinished, which might affect the value.

They never said they were going to fix any of the things they mentioned, and as far as the maintenance service I'm sure all that needs to be done when swapping out the cases. Stuff like checking the seals for water resistance, de-magnetizing, re-calibrating ect. They already told me that everything was covered under the warranty and that the bill was $0.
Originally it was 3weeks for the repair but because the cases come from Italy and are on back order it will take twice as long. I believe they say that to everyone so they cover themselves in case someone does get it back with a scratch on the crystal. But you all raise good points, I don't think it would hurt to put a phone call into them tomorrow. Thanks for your concerns. Well gotta go, I'm running late for my therapy session. You kind of have no excuse when you're late for your therapist when you're their for a WATCH addiction! |

they also already told you that your watch is in a bad state, which you seem to disagree with and a clasp that you never sent them was also mentioned, with that in mind, not sure if I would take $0 charge so readily,I also would hope Panerai didn't make up a list a damages just to cover themselves, you seem happy enough,it's your watch, good luck |

Who knows why they do what they do but I've heard the same thing from a few other members and they got their watch back in perfect condition. Maybe they look at it through a loop and make mountains out of mole hills. I don't know. All I know is I made a decision to send it in and right now it's out of my hands. There's nothing I can do but wait. I will keep you guys posted on the process, that way if ever need be you'll have something to reference. Hopefully you never will! ![]() Last edited by CoachRolexRyan; 28 July 2011 at 08:27 AM.. Reason: spelling |

C.E. - the best thing would be to send me some of your watches and save the therapy money.

I might so be in same boat as you soon. After my new Panerai 312N purchase, my old lady is pitching a gasket. Women just don't understand.
