Did I Break It?
So, I just bought my wife a '67 Oysterdate Precision manual wind....in beautiful condition, had it mailed to me. Upon the initial date set of 17, 24 hr turns, and after 20 full winds the watch ticked for 30 seconds and stopped....I wound another 10 times and now it has jammed - doesn't wind anymore...help....please.

Doubt it was something you did... I would say take it to a local watchmaker and have it looked at or serviced. Try this post for someone in SF. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=182662

Thanks Rick - Im thinking I'll give to her Fri - her b-day then have it looked at locally. Hopefully not a ton of $ to repair.

could not be something you did to it in my opinion, unless you dropped it or smtgh similar.
Repair could be costfull as you do not know how sound the mechanism is or what the pb is (and repair will not happen overnight either), so I would say best return it to the seller but obviously if you need it for her bd, well... I do hope it is not anything serious. best of luck! |

it sounds as the watch requires a service. Hard to say what all will be required to fix the watch. I don't know who and under what conditions you purchased the watch, but to be honest when buying a vintage watch this is something not that unusual. However you may want to contact the seller and see what they are willing to do.
I would not take this watch just to anyone and have them work on it however.

That happened to me as well. Had it shipped to me and changed the date and wound it. It ended up being a bent gear. Wasn't to expensive.
