Vintage Rolex (1943) - Help please.

Hi.

Hoping that some of the well informed community can enlighten me, throuroughly perplexed. I went to a nymber of London jewelers/brokers to get an attampet at valuations .. feeling thorougly given the run around (£1500-4000/$2400-6400 was the spread I was given)

Model: 6548
Serial: 261198 (apparently circa 1943)

Any heads up as to the value of the watch would be appreciated also the scarcity, was told it was quite rare, and drew a blank in terms of tryingt o find valuation/similar on google!

= 1. Is it rare
= 2. Approximate value/estimate please (body only)

Many thanks :)

Don't know about the date, but wouldn't a 1940's be a bubble back?

You'll get more answers if you give more detail pictures.

1)Model
2)Serial
3)Back case
4)Movement
5)Dial

The price you were given varied widely because the high price quoted is probably the end user (retail) price.

That serial no. is one of those which was "re-cycled" (used twice) by Rolex and the table which I have suggests that 1956/57 was the year of manufacture. Certainly the style of dial is much more characteristic of the late fifties/early sixties than it is of the forties.
