Guys,

I'm looking at an Armand Nicolet TM7 as an alternative to my sub. I love classic tonneau shaped watches and love the complications on this piece.

Bearing in mind a sub is 40mm the TM7 seems quite large at 52mmx38mmx13mm. I assume the 52mm is lug end to lug end, so it might not wear that large, Sub lug end to end is still 47/48mm - still - thoughts??

Anyone seen one of these in the flesh, not disimilar to Gervil Avenue of America's etc.

It looks really cool, but I think you should keep the sub and buy this as a second watch. I couldn't see replacing a sub with that.

Danny,

It is complete and utter junk. Supposed 'complications' built on platforms that are not meant to support them. My partners and I bought out an Armand Nicolet closeout package worth about $500k, sold it off, and are still servicing them. About one of every 5 watches we have sold has some sort of an issue, ranging from functions not working to the clasp not closing. Many of the watches we have seen come back for repair more than once. If a proprietary part goes bad - good luck getting it from AN. Anything we sent them for warranty work was deemed as 'damaged as a result of mis-use' and not covered, so we had to pay put of pocket. Armand Nicolet is a nightmare wrapped in a pretty looking package.

Sorry for the bluntness, hopefully it'll save you some headache. If you still choose to waste your money on it, why don't I suggest a few charities, it'll go to a much better use.

For roughly the same money though, you can own a pre-owned Omega or Ball. Money much better spent.

It's great to have a member and seller like you on the site with lots of general knowledge to warn members what could be an monetary disaster. Although I have not purchased from you, I enjoy the wide range of brands you post on the TRF For Sale post - it's a nice break from the endless Rolex Sub's, DJ's, DSSD's, etc. posted on the site.

BTW, what's your take on Girard Perregaux? I understand they recently failed in the U.S. market and there is bargain inventory floating out there.

GP is a wonderful brand with terrific quality - but poor marketing in US. The Sea Hawk Pro is a superior diver to many, including the DSSD imho. The complications are phenomenal, dials are beautiful and their 'little sister' company JeanRichard makes incredible affordable timepieces with excellent quality. I have no beef

Point taken, but the post states "For Sale -Watches, etc." and nowhere does the word Rolex appear. There are also TRF Forums for Omega, Panerai, Breitling, and a "Watches (Non -Rolex) Forum".

FYI, my wife and I own five various Rolex models and admire the brand. I will state again - I enjoy Greg's (Mosco) postings because he offers other highend brands with excellent pictures and descriptions. Some of the watches he posts I have never even seen or heard of, so it is a great learning tool.

BTW, I resent being given the "dummy" smilie which I assure I am not!

Ah interesting.

I was looking at this as an addition, not instead of my sub.

I haven't really seen them going at a discount, I guess if I could get one on a mega cheap deal I'd risk it, but to be frank I'd have to be a bit of a nugget to pay rrp based on the comments above.

Actually I never noticed that the "hammer on the head" smilie (

) was called "dummy" before; I thought of it as more of expressing the feeling when one got blanked over or something like that, kind of like a "d'oh!" as Homer would say!

Right, I noticed it after you'd written it the first time, but the name they give it is forum-specific. For example, at mbworld.org it's simply referred to as "smash", so it isn't universally a "dummy" symbol.
