Omega Men's 3212.80.00 Speedmaster Date Automatic Chronometer Chronograph Blue Dial
I just went to an AD and REALLY wanted the watch (stolen picture below for reference). However, with a list of $3,300 I thought there was room for bargaining. I offered 10% less for a cash today purchase, and they said "No dice." They argued the same thing I've heard from Rolex, that Omega won't allow discounts anymore. So I left. Then I went back, and tried again. Then the manager said the same thing. So I left again.
So what do you think? Are they really holding firm for policy reasons? I was wearing my Rolex 14060 at the time, and I wasn't sure if that had something to do with it. I went in looking for a blue-face Turn-O-Graph, but they didn't have one. I'm currently obsessing on watches with blue faces, for some reason. Someone through amazon is selling the watch for $2700 - should I just go that way, or are their "Authorized Dealer" issues with this? Thanks! |

Get a hold of one of the trusted sellers on the TRF For Sale post (DavidSW, Oscar (Bodybump), Mosco) and see if they can find you one. Pricing is always excellent from these guys - far better than battling it out with an AD or an Omega boutique.
Good Luck! J. Alan |

Hmmm....
That watch has poor resale value compared to other models in the Speedmaster line up. You can probably find one for under 1500 dollars just slightly used. Also, 30% off MSRP or even more is not unheard off when it comes to the Speedmaster Date. Keep an eye on the sales fora, I have seen them for as low as 1100 dollars.

Can't remember where I was reading but wasn't Omega pulling back on their AD and not giving discounts? I know used that watch would be a lot cheaper and buying from Amazon could mean from anyone site unseen so I would wait around for one on here or another forum with clearer pictures and a reputable source.

I'm getting itchy for this one, but I'm worried it seems unpopular. Any thoughts on why there is no chatter on this watch?

Get used from a Trusted Seller for sure. I thought I had read somewhere on this forum that there were reliability issues on the automatic date version and the safer bet was the manual Speedmaster Pro. I am sure the Omega experts can chime in on that point.
