New Submariner with questions pertaining to functionality and security. Please help!!

Hello everyone.

I recently bought a Rolex Submariner and decided to join this superb forum for some updates and questions.

Bezel----
1.) The bezel seems fine, however I read somewhere that a real Rolex Submariner will turn 120 clicks per cycle or about 30 per quarter. I got 18-19?

2.) Additionally, when I gently press the bezel in the 12 and 6'o-clock position the bezel moves slightly. Is this normal?

Winding----
3.) Can you overwind your Submariner?

4.) How do you know if you've winding enough?

5.) How long should it function on a full wind until it goes to "sleep" mode?

6.) What's the best way for me to wake up from "sleep" mode, just wear it or manually update the time and date?

Authenticity----
7.) Since this watch is so popular it seems to attract a lot of unwanted copycats and fake imitations. How can one be certain he/she is getting the real deal?

-Crown lasered in on glass above the six'o-clock (hard to see)
-"rolex" is engraved on the inside ring along with code and crown on the 12'o-clock position

What other features can I look into without opening the actual watch to check authenticity?

I know that's a lot but if you can just answer one you're truly helping me out here. If you can answer a few please just quote me or use the numbers to help me out. Cheers and thanks in advance. I look forward to acquiring knowledge from all you Rolex Owners!

Rolex Submariner evolved from the Sub classic to the Sub Ceramic with wider lugs. Which want you got?

3. No you cannot overwind

6. Go ahead and set it, then wind, I believe about 40-50 turns is a full wind which should last around 48 hrs if I'm not mistaken
7. The crown should be hard to see and the rehaut should also be engraved

Correct me if I'm wrong or missed anything fellas

Post some pics and we can take a look.

Did you buy that from an AD? If not, was the price you paid within a reasonable range? If you paid only a fraction of the market price, it could be a copycat and you'd better let a Rolex Service Center in LA check it.

To answer a few of your questions:

=> 1): if it is a ceramic Sub, then it should be 120 clicks. Otherwise maybe not.

=> 2): bezel movement is normal.

=> 3), 4), 5): I seldom wind my sub. Just wear it every day.

=> 6): best way to wake it: wear it!

=> 7): again pictures are needed!!

Welcome to TRF.
I recently bought a Rolex Submariner and decided to join this superb forum for some updates and questions.
Post some PICs here when you get a chance
Bezel----
1.) The bezel seems fine, however I read somewhere that a real Rolex Submariner will turn 120 clicks per cycle or about 30 per quarter. I got 18-19?

2.) Additionally, when I gently press the bezel in the 12 and 6'o-clock position the bezel moves slightly. Is this normal?

Winding----
3.) Can you overwind your Submariner?
No, you can not over wind a rolex.
4.) How do you know if you've winding enough?
There will be some resistance when get there, but 40 turns is sufficient.
5.) How long should it function on a full wind until it goes to "sleep" mode?
48 hours power reserve without any further activity.
6.) What's the best way for me to wake up from "sleep" mode, just wear it or manually update the time and date?
Give it 40 turns or winds.Authenticity----
7.) Since this watch is so popular it seems to attract a lot of unwanted copycats and fake imitations. How can one be certain he/she is getting the real deal?
Buy the seller, buy from someone you can trust. I chose to buy from an AD personally.-Crown lasered in on glass above the six'o-clock (hard to see)
-"rolex" is engraved on the inside ring along with code and crown on the 12'o-clock position

What other features can I look into without opening the actual watch to check authenticity?

Small Laser Etched Crown at 6 O'Clock on the crystall for most

Most other items require a bit of knowledge and might require some research, however if buying from someone you can trust you don't need to worry about this.

The bezel on my "old" 16610 and the "new" 116610 Sub C have precisely 30 clicks per quarter. If yours is different --> very likely fake!

2.) Additionally, when I gently press the bezel in the 12 and 6'o-clock position the bezel moves slightly. Is this normal?

The bezel on both of my watches does NOT move

Authenticity----

Regarding authenticity, post some good pics here or get it checked at an AD.

Usually that should be done PRIOR to the payment not afterwards!

Sorry, but I thought all Submariners have had a 120 click bezel. This is kind of a red flag to me here...

----I believe it was an AD, but the warranty card is in FRENCH! Also the price range is correct, 4.5K-5.5K????

Also, I bought this in HONG KONG from what I thought was an AD.
How does one know if the seller is an "AD?"

Only thing suspicious is that the warranty card is in French!
Also only thing in the box aside from the watch is "Rolex Submariner" small-rectangular pamphlet, the warranty card and a small service manual.
Lastly, the back of the watch still has the protective sticker. It just has a small green edge on a side of it where I've seen some have numbers?

To think I invested around 5K for this, one would imagine they get a little more information! But that's what this forum is for.

Just voicing my concern is all.

Is the only real way to guarantee authenticity is to look inside?
If so, where can I go to have someone look into it that knows what he/she is doing?
Maybe some place that sells them?

What was the name of the place you got this from in Hong Kong?

Usually, you don't need to make all those threads on the same topic.

Hope it solves for you!

You are correct sir!
Mine is a 16610

Does that mean it is not "ceramic bezel?"
What is the difference between the two bezels?
Lastly, what's the difference between 16610 and 116610?

Thanks!

Nope, doesn't appear to be a ceramic bezel or have a supercase. What is the model number listed on your warranty card? This appears to be a classic 16610...

Correct Sir!
It is a 16610 but I'm curious how can everyone spot the difference so quickly between the two bezels? Can you help post a good ceramic pic?

Also, what is a "supercase?"

Thanks!

The 16610 is the classic Submariner they stopped produce it in 2010 i think.
The "new" 116610 have a fater case, the bezel is ceramic (more shiny) and if you check out the bracelet you can se some differnece on the clasp.
The index is bigger on new modell to.

I dont know all details im sorry
