Rolex Service Problem

Had a Mid-size Datejust sent in for repair at Rolex Bangkok Service Center.
Seconds hand was stopping, sliding and skipping..
Service center did a complete overhaul, and polished the case and bracelet.
In addition, they stated the watch is not waterproof due to case being very rusty. However, the rust must be inside, since i can't see any from the outside.

Just a note.. i've been to this service center a few times already, due to this watch.. Every person, i see that goes in there to have a older watch serviced, is told watch is not waterproof due to rust. I've heard this told multiple times to customers.

When i got it back from service,, within a few weeks, the hand was doing the same thing.. I returned to the Service center and pointed out the issue..
They took it in again for service and i just got it back today.. Explanation given by the watch tech, via the service rep, was that a gear was faulty. So, they replaced it.

Anyway, within a few hours.. The watch is still having the same problem.

Kind of frustrated with the service center not being able to correct this problem properly.

Has anyone experience any issues regarding this seconds hand?
Is this a normal thing with Rolex,,
Any suggestions?
Should i send the watch to Switzerland or should i send it back again to the same service center.. Seems like they don't know what they are doing.
In addition, seems strange that every person that has picked up a watch from them, has been told the same "watch not waterproof, because too much rust". So we can't give a service certificate". I heard this told to 3 customers.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated..

Watch specifications..from Rolex receipt.
Rolex, Mid Size, Ref..model 6827/3CHYH Ser#7463813
Service cost : $510 USD

If you send it to Rolex Switzerland they will have a replacement case on the cost estimate marked as not optional and those are not cheap my friend.

Did they change the handsets or did the keep the original ones?

The hands appear to be the original. Nothing is noted on the parts list about hands.

I kept an eye on the watch again today.. and the seconds hand is still skipping. Yesterday, it wasn't as bad, but today, it appears it is getting worse. The drag and skip, starts around the 1 hour marker to the 7 hr marker.

Just seems strange that Rolex, is unable to correct this problem.

As for the rust case.. that doesn't bother my wife much, since she only wears the watch once in awhile.. and never uses it in wet weather, swimming, washing dishes, etc.
The Rolex AD in New Zealand, looked over the watch both inside and out, about a year ago and stated it was in really nice condition. So, not sure what this rust thing is coming from.
I'm starting to think the service center over here is a bit dodgy.

My wife prefers to keep the same case, so not interested in switching that out.

Looks like i will be taking the watch back, again.... this week. This will be the 3rd trip to the service center to fix this problem. Seems like a pain in the **s. Should I look for another rolex watchmaker? Any other watch repair guys out there, that can fix this problem? I am scheduled for about 1.5 month trip to the U.S. in January.

Really dread taking the watch back to the same service center. I wonder if a US service center would do a better job?

tell them you will write a letter to geneva about how incompetent they have been and you can tell them, "it might not do me much good but it CERTAINLY wont do you any good". this usually works well for me

Where did You take that?
There is many Rolex dealers in BKK.
When I tried to find a new leather band to my Panerai, I went many times to Gaysorn Plaza shop, and they never had even one band in their stock...
There is also many vintage shops in MBK, that can make some repair. Maybe You could try those also. I am not sure but maybe one near those doors to department store (BTS MBK side) 3rd or 4th floor. The shop sells some vintage Rolex, Panerai, Patek, but also some cheaper Omegas as well. Left side of that shop is some man, who did some repair to one of my friends Omega. I have also changed many times dials to Rolexes etc in MBK without any problem.
I would not be suprised, if they said, there is rust in Your watch, even there is not. Amazing Thailand. Love it anyway..

Is it the hands, causing the problem? If so, why doesn't the RSC here tell me, and fix it.
I don't mind paying for extra parts and labor, but i would think this would have been done the first and definitely the second time. Anyway, i will have to travel on a business, and won't be back in Bangkok, until November.

hey Fin.. I will have to check out your info when i return to BKK. Will have to do some research to find a competent rolex watchmaker here. If not, then will wait for my trip to the US in Jan or Feb. Can't believe that an RSC is unable to repair a watch properly.
I guess, i may also have to try "Toph"'s advice.

centers should be competent and good in terms of dealing with our watches. we just tell them our complaint and they have to explain to us whats wrong and the same time and give us their opinion and estimate. that happen to me in my gmt 1 before 2006. the second hand was kind of skipping and sliding. i told rolex manila of my complaint and they fixed it by cleaning on something, change oil or cleaning.soon after the watch is good.

the way i see it the center there is not good. they explain things by reasoning out which should be not the case. complain, fix, satisfied, pay....
