My New 090 & Local AD Clearing Their Panerai Inventory

Hi All,

I had just bought myself the PAM 90, super excited about the watch, and found out that the AD is no longer going to carry the Panerai line and is clearing out the rest of their inventory:

233 (2)
270
283
239
213 (2)
275

I was very well taken care of and thought that I would pass the information along in case some of your were looking to buy these models. PM me if you want.

Thanks everyone! I am definitely loving this watch and loving being a part of this forum and seeing the collections that each of you have. Impressive!

Shade- to answer your question, i am not sure why. The PAM's that I listed were the only ones they had left. I found the AD from the Panerai website, checked this dealer and one other in the area, but this dealer had the 090.

Panerai, just like Rolex, is trying to reign in the AD's a little. While doing that, more boutiques will open. For whatever reasons, the dealer network gains some dealers and losses some dealers every year (tough economy, location, etc), because they cannot sell their allocation required by Panerai.

The list that Brian posted are not the hottest models (except that 090 he snagged), so dealer has to clear out inventory by a certain date. Remaining inventory will most likely be wholesaled to gray market ultimately.

Panerai watches ARE great sellers and watches, but every AD can't make it...same with any brand.

^exactly. those models aren't that popular. That 090 doesn't seem that popular either though. Was trying to score 000,005,111, 112 no luck.

meh.

It seems to be the new trend is to move toward boutiques and keep everything in house. I spoke with a dealer who lost their license this year and they felt a lot of brands are being much stricter with the intention of driving them out vs. just pulling it for no reason. There's a lot of rumors floating about Rolex doing the same in the near future...maybe just dealer gossip, but who knows.

Matt, thanks for the insight. I too heard something about ROLEX looking to do the same.

By selling via boutiques, OEMs get more profit since they are selling it straight to buyers without going through the middle man (dealers). And with PAM boutiques, you can NOT get a discount either, so it's full price...

If I am PAM, I would do the same thing. I am getting FULL price on my watch + no profit sharing with AD.
