I've been thinking in getting a watch from my birth year and since I am a Submariners lover I decided for the 1680 (the white, Not the Red). The question is, How difficult is to find a 1680 from 1969 in good condition and how much (approx) will it cost me to get one nowadays??

69 is going to be red and meters first so expect to pay up or down from 20k for a full, all original, clean example. You could also be looking at a Tropical variation which will be much more. Good luck on your search

Ha, you're discovering the same thing I did a while ago. Being born in 1969 means paying up for a MF red. It's a bit of a curse and a blessing. At first I was disappointed that it was going to cost me more to get my birth year watch. Later though, I saw it as a good excuse for spending the extra money.

Here is my 1680 from 69'- also a MF but a bit more color although not with red writing.

69' was a great year!!

No date 5513 may be cheaper. I am in same situation but 1680 with a 1972 serial which is a little cheaper.

If i am not wrong, the seller was asking something around 8-9 k

hang on a sec ... is that nipple gold actually worth less tahn a stainless steel one , cos its got red paint ,,,, it must be expensive paint rolex use.
sometimes this world of watches just wont add up.

Not sure where you got that but not even close! The 1680/8 meters first is worth far more than the SS one.

Welcome Mario. Good choice with going with a birth year as your first vintage, it's the best feeling ever as I discovered when I got my 73" birth year red sub, almost like a reunion with a long lost twin.
Make sure, unless you are experienced with vintage, to post pictures before you buy and ask for an opinion from the knowledgeable guys here so that you get what you looking for.

I would guess the 1680/8 is worth more than a red 1680. What about if the red were tropical

Paul--Still much more. My 1680/8 mint condition with original Patent Pending bracelet worth $35k+ vs. A tropical Red MF worth $25k -$27k depending on condition and provenance. Best bet is to have both!

good , i must have miss understood , as in the words of a famous lager add , some things should be reassuringly expensive , that 1680/8 is my rail of a watch. ,,, stunning pic too.
