Strap shopping.....

Hey Guys, looking to pick up a few straps. I was looking at both Heroic & Gunny. Who is the better quality of the two?

Appreciate your feedback.

Codaman straps are solid quality and I can vouch for him as he is a personal friend of mine and lives a couple of miles from me, I have owned a few of his straps.

BUT, I personally love Mario Paci straps, they are the best quality out there and just as solid as OEM quality for less of a price. Just google Mario Paci straps and you will learn more about him and his connection the Panerai.

All I really wear are Mario Paci straps and the occasional Codman Ammo on my Pams. I alos love Original Kodiak straps for the summer. They are a waterproof strap and once you get them wet, they get so comfortable. They are just the coolest leather, you would never know they are waterproof by looking at them.

Hi Trevor... I've been interested in the Kodiaks for a long time as they are said to be waterproof. Can you provide a "review" on how well they hold up after getting wet - since most ppl tell me that once leather gets thoroughly wet, they tend to deteriorate. Thanks.

i love gunny straps. they have a very vintage style to it. it really suits panerais. the craftsmanship and quality of leather is very high quality. you just have to say exactly what you want.

You'll also find you have a preference after a bit. Some people love heroic, some not, some love gunny, some not. I will tell you I didn't care for Heroic due to thickness. Too much for me. Doesn't mean the don't make a fine strap.

I can tell you that I have been wearing a Kodiak strap that I purchased from TC Straps most of the Arizona summer. It has been in the pool a ton and in the ocean a few times. It has only become softer and more comfortable, it might be one of the most comfy straps I own.

I think that if you actually like to get your watch wet, you must have one. OEM rubber is nice, but I like the leather look and the OEM is a tad small for me.

This is a Kodiak.

Heroic makes a terrific strap at a great price. If you can budget higher, then check out Greg Stevens Design (GSD). Rob Montanas are in the same category. I actuall just got my first RM recently, and it was a custom strap made for the Montreal GTG. He put on this "torched" brass buckle that is out of this world.

Remember that the thicker the straps, the longer they need to be.

I think I'll be adding Toshi to my list as well. Seems he makes quality straps at reasonable price points.

Decisions.....decisions!
