A Few of Our Feathered Friends

I'm an avid wildlife photographer in my spare time and birds are one of my favourite subjects. They are a challenge to photograph and I enjoy every minute trying to capture them in their natural environment. Here are few recent shots. Hope you enjoy.

Osprey with breakfast.

Juvenile Bald Eagle.

Osprey fledglings.

Adult Bald Eagles.

Great Egret with a snack.

Female Belted Kingfisher.

Black Skimmer.

Osprey.

Incredible pictures Mike! Thanks for sharing! I especially like the first one (Osprey). If my memory does not fail me, you posted a similar pic of that bird a while ago?

Thank you. That is a favourite perch of the male to eat his catch. They have moved on to warmer climates for the winter so I'll be looking for eagles for a while.

Thanks very much everyone.

These were all taken with the Canon 1d Mark IV camera and a 500mm IS f4 lens. All but one also had either the 1.4x teleconverter for 700mm or 2x tc at 1000mm attached. One of the nice things about this lens is that it handles converters so well with minimal image degradation and when it come to wildlife the longer the lens the better in most cases. Now can you guess the one not using the tc without cheating?
