First Breitling..Questions

I am looking at purchasing my first Breitling, I have multiple Rolex and Omegas but no Breitlings. Consequently I know squat about the models. I am looking for a daily wearer, stainless steel, date, around 40mm in size. A quartz model will do. I've been thinking about a Colt Quartz II, I think the model # was A74380. Is this a current model and what is its reputation. Any thoughts appreciated.

The Colt 2 auto is a fine watch, tough, sturdy with an excellent depth rating. Excellent bracelet, top of the line. It has recently been discontinued. Not sure about the quartz.

Just checked, it has been discontinued. My guess it that there are plenty available at AD's.

I had one a Colt Quartz 2, black face. Loved it but sold it. It was a great looking watch, 41mm. Really good size for me. Felt really solid. 8 year battery life. Superquartz accuracy.

Just checked out the Breitling website, looks like it's been discounted and they now have a Colt 44. This in lies the problem with a lot of Breitling models, they get totally revamped after a few years, so I would put them into a fashion bracket. And because of this don't hold their value at all.

If you can pick it up at a good price 2nd hand then go for it. I believe a high end quartz has a place in a watch collection.

Also check out an aerospace if you want quartz, that is an cool watch, although more money than the colt.

Colt quartz II is a very nice watch, solidly built and very durable.
There are many more interesting quartz Breitlings out there, from Chrono Colt to (my personal favorite) Aerospace.
Anyway, you can`t miss with quartz Breitling, all of their movements are thermocompensated, high-end ETA`s.
My suggestion would be that you check out Superocean line of automatics first, very similar watches to Colt that you like, but with even higher water resistance and more desirable automatic movements.

It's not a quartz, but consider the Breitling Avenger--I love them, and I think it's a 43mm..

I've got a bunch of Breitling....colt auto, colt quartz, avenger, superocean. I've owned (but no longer own): colt GMT, avenger blacksteel, and Seawolf.

The Colt Quartz is my daily wear watch when I'm going Breitling. Unreal accuracy, full lume on all numbers, fully brushed case & bracelet, and great looking.

You should be able to get one for a pretty good discount, considering the economy & how many there at AD's.

If your AD won't go 30% off, drop me PM & I'll send you the info for one who will.
