1625 Tbird - RSC overhaul, but waterproof issue with bezel... anyone else?
i just had a 1625 thunderbird cleaned and serviced at a RSC. the watch looks great, but the contact at the RSC says that the bezel is thin and he cannot warrant taht it is waterproof. i find this odd and a bit disappointing. anyone else have this trouble with this model?

Harry, I had my wife's 1975 1625 serviced earlier this year by RSC San Francisco, and no problems with waterproof integrity.
It's a DJ with a rotating bezel, there should be no major issues getting the watch water resistant to required depth rating. |

Does the bezel have anything to do with the seal of the crystal?

This what I was told about the bezel and I can't seem to accept this.

On the older Datejusts with the pie pan dials the crystal is secured/held in place by the bezel. The bezel gets pressed on. So, if there's a problem with bezel, most service establishments warn of possible water proof issues. With a 1625 DJ/TOG, the additional rotational piece sits on top of the pressed on part of the bezel i am sure only compliments this issue.

interesting!
thanks for the input greg so i suppose that the rotation of the gold bezel removes material as it ages. the yg bezel is much softer that ssteel as well. from what i understnad, on a sub, there is another metal ring that holds the plexi in place. better design on the subs. harry |

Looks like the entire matter with the bezel was incorrect. the turning bezel does not have anything to do with the waterproofing of hte case.
the AD installed a damaged crown. i replaced it and its AOK and passed a pressure test. |
