Fair price for an Explorer 1?
I'm in the market for my first Explorer 1. I've previously owned a DJ and AK, but the Explorer seems to be calling my name. What are your thoughts on a fair price for a pre-owned E1 from a private seller?
Also, how much does box/papers really ad to the value? And because everyone loves pictures, here's a shamelessly stolen pic of an E1 looking stunning on a black nato: |

Not sure about boxes and papers, but I would say maybe around $3k without boxes and papers? Give or take. An older 14270 will go for cheaper, and a newer 114270 with the rehaut engraving will go for more.

My guess is 3500 to 4K? It still is a sports watch and the retail keeps going up and up. |

Approximately $3,500 without paper, $3,800 with papers for a real clean within 2003 - 2006 production. Add $100 for every series above that.

the explorer I is a real sleeper in my opinion. that's kind of why I bought one. it's classy enough for any professional occasion, but still sporty enough to be a weekend wearer.

This is great information. I just knew I was lucky to get my 2003 one with full box/papers for AU$2999. I couldn't believe no-one else bid, I feel like a won a little lotto prize

Yes, mid 3K would be about right, depending on condition, accessories, etc.
My Explorer 1 is a Y series, from 2004 - |
