The power of an electric!
Hey members,
First post here and I've decided to instead of a asking for help or saying a mere "hello, how do you do" that I share with you, perhaps known to many, but rather an insightful discovery to myself this morning and that is to use an electric toothbrush with a small hint of baking soda to clean our beloved watches/jewels. The result IMO is superior to any ultrasonic cleaning I've seen thus far. Will followup with a 'Hello' post shortly after. |

Hi and Welcome,
Need to clean my jubilee bracelet, soap and water just not doing the job with this intricate bracelet. Will look to using a soft brush, maybe a toothbrush. Thanks for posting, hope you enjoy your stay. |

Thanks for the kind welcomes.
BTW, how does one implement a signature below each post? I've searched and didn't see such option in the User CP page. |

Wouldn't the baking soda act as an abrasive?

No, baking soda is a fine crystalline powder that is water soluble.
Just don't use it on Aluminum (it removes the rust layer, which you don't want to happen. Al is a funny metal, the more rust the stronger and scratch resistant it becomes) and also don't leave a watch overnight in a baking soda solution. But for a quick cleaning, a tad bit of baking soda with a few drops of water to create a paste like solution does wonders without harming your non-Aluminum watch/jewelries! |

Welcome to TRF Never thought of an electric toothbrush but I do use a regular one with warm water and soap and it works perfectly.
