Rookie needs some advice on DJ TOG 116264
I am considering purchase of this watch (for my wife) and would like to know:
1) more about the movement. I have the DJII and was told that it's movement is the latest and greatest. 2) how to tell what year the watch was built. Any additional feedback is appreciated. |

The serial number between the lugs will allow you to date the watch, roughly. Rolex has made very little change to the basic movements in the last 30 years. The movements are all basically the same (not Daytona), and the changes are very small.
If you buy a Rolex with the "quickset" feature, you've got the only real change since 1980. Some of the upgrades that get discussed here endlessly, are no more than Rolex bringing inhouse some part that they used to buy. They then put a name on the new inhouse part and call it an upgrade. It's the same as "new and improved" for corn flakes or detergent. |
