How do I know the build date of a Rolex
This is my first post.
I bought my wife a Cellini wind up model from someone other than an AD. I am now aware that it is what I would call "New Old Stock". She is tired of the wind up and would like to get an Electric Cellini. When I talked to the AD the sales woman showed me some Rolex's which were on sale because they had been at the AD for a few years. I would like to get a watch that is just out of the current factory not something that may have been built several years ago. When I asked about serial numbers she said that just references the date the case was built which are made in batches. Is there a way to get a current watch ? am I just being overly concerned? Another AD said the Cellini's don't sell well and perhaps that's why they sit around. My wife likes the straps versus bands and wants a simple easy to read dial. |

Here are letter & serial numbers. You might want to read the whole FAQ's! Lots of interesting reading in there, including country codes

Thanks for the info . I subscribe to Watch Time magazine and have noted that with the renewed interest in Fine Watches that manufacturers are updating their factories and equipment wih a corresponding upgrade to quality. So I think from now on I'm going to stick with Factory Authorized dealers or used from well known forum members. it appears from you FAQ link that I have a "Really Old New Stock" LOL
