Oyster Case Question

I just picked up this watch yesterday and don't know much about it. I have a P serial Submariner 16610 and I prefer the old style case of my Sub over the new model. My new Oyster Perpetual, V serial, in the photo below seems to have the same new wider case, but in a downsized version. Is V serial representative of a date or year? I don't know much about this new watch and was hoping some of you here can help. Is this a new style case, and if so, how long has this been around on this model? Is the concentric arabic dial a new or long standing type of dial for Rolexes? I am really psyched on this model, the blue center dial thing is radical when it catches the right lighting. I can now keep my Sub on a nato and wear this with dress clothing for work, the size is perfect for dress. Thanks for your help--

The 36mm Oyster Perpetual was only introduced a couple of years ago. Before that they were all 34mm..

Very good looking dial IMO I also agree the 36mm is amazingly comfy for dress attire over a bulkier sport model. Funny as it is I have a sport model on 95% of the time anyway.

Enjoy your new watch, I would love to see some more pics

X2 And these dial are quite retro looking reminds me of the dials back in the 1940s-50s.
