Is 36mm a girl's size?

Hi,
I am shocked with the way watches are growing in size faster than the Chinese Olympic team!

I just fell in love with an Audemars Piguet and it is perfect as far as I am concerned! I am a big guy - aka fat!

Yet the Audemars Piguet is only 33mm diameter - excluding the crown.

Why is the FULL SIZE DateJust at 36mm being advertised as the PERFECT LADIES SIZE!

Super-SIZE-ME but this is rediculous!

Surely 36mm is not a ladies size? Tell me I am crazy - but surely the Rolex-advertising-people got it wrong!

Don't worry about the size of the watch. As long as the watch dial is proportional to the wrist, then it is all good IMO.

Each to his/her own - some like it big and some like it small.

Is it the AP RO you are thinking about?

I have a 35 mm midsize YM TT blue dial and not even for a minute felt it was ladies or boy's model as it sometimes gets referred to. BTW my wrists are small though.

I must have missed the tagline or body copy saying 36mm is for ladies.

The Royal Oak is a stunner and I never felt it was small......
33mm seems so perfect!

I have seen Patek being called "GRANDE TAILE" at 37mm.

Surely 36mm is not a girls size?

Okay it isn't - if that makes you feel better.

(Otherwise, by today's fashion trend... Many ladies are wearing larger dial watches, including those popular 36mm and 40mm ones )

How about just wearing the size you prefer?

I'm a girl and I prefer 34 and 36mm.

Please don't worry about how a watch is designated or not. Wear what you're comfortable with. I'm female and I happen to prefer 36mm for myself. I Also wear a 40mm.

you realize you're asking whether the diameter of a piece of jewelry makes it properly masculine or feminine? Doesn't that seem silly? You realize women shave and wear pants, too, right? If you're so big that the 36mm looks like a bottlecap on your wrist, get a bigger watch. That problem would be caused by jelly rolls, not gender roles.

Some time ago, I was at the grocery store and noticed a woman wearing a large bracelet. Then I noticed it - oyster. Now, she's doing self checkout, and I'm trying to get a better look. I got caught!

She stopped so I could see it, she said she had noticed my GMT elsewhere in the store. Nice TT blue sub., it is/was her late father's and it will one day be her son's. I thought it fit her quite nicely.

Well, the recent trend is to larger watches for the Ladies, having seen submariners, daytonas and Milgauss gracing their wrists....but I'd say in general the classic Lady Datejust 26mm is considered a bit small these days in favour of 31mm and perhaps even 36mm depending on the person. I'm guessing the sport watches (40mm) are more of a fad with ladies then an enduring new preference IMHO. Cheers

If it makes you feel any better, I have some empirical data: I put on a 34mm Air King this afternoon and my nuts are still where they were this morning. I'll let you know if anything changes as the evening progresses.

Agree.... There is some ladies watches that are 42mm. Does this mean this is a girl size?

I guess it's becoming sort of like sunglasses, if you like them - wear them!

I have ND Sub and I feel it looks a bit oversized. My next will be a 36 DJ.

To each their own. I own 36mm, 40mm and 42mm Rolex watches... Love them all... My wife currently has a 31mm TT DJ as well as a 36mm DJ and she likes the larger one however this is the trend and could very well turn the other way IMO... If not we will all be wearing wall clocks on our wrists in a couple of decades

Judging a watch size as male or female--what exactly does that accomplish? Does it grow hair or raise the voice a register to wear one watch versus another? No, it does not.

If you are dismayed about the watches that women are buying, try talking to a woman about this issue. Report back.
