First Omega

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member and just received my first Omega ( Speedmaster Broad Arrow 1957 ) this week from Mark Theken ( marktime ) and could not be more pleased with the watch and the smooth transaction with Mark.

By-the-way, the watch came with the OEM stainless bracelet which is very nice, but I've wearing a Rolex sub for years with a metal bracelet and would like a change. If anyone has a nice leather strap with the Omega deployment clasp for sale which is reasonably prices ( stress reasonably ) I would appreciate hearing from you.

Congratulations and welcome to TRF! I hope we'll be able to see some pictures rather soon.

As for the leather band, perhaps you'd like to post a thread in the WTB (Wanting To Buy) section. I'm sure somebody will help you soon with that as there are a lot of very nice and honest sellers around here!

Thanks all. I'll post some pictures soon. I wouldn't mind posting my want on WTB, but from the rules, unless I am mistaken, I cannot post until 16 days have passed and I have posted 16 times.

Congrats, I know if you bought it from Mark it has to be a real nice watch. I can't wait to see some PICs.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, it is a real clean watch. Several observations:
1. The band although nice has pins that must be hammered out to add links - disappointing and a bit cheesy in my opinion compared to my Rolex Sub and Rolex Pres which have machined screws.
2. the winder is a bit shallow for a larger watch and not as easy to wind as other watches I own and have owned
3. the sub-second, minute and hour subs could be a little larger. Seems there is room on the dial to make these larger.
4. The rotar is very loud and almost sounds loose.

But, I do LIKE the watch.
1. the raised stick markers and Omega logo are very nice when the dial is at an angle. Straight on the look unremarkable, but angle they really shine.
2. the Broad Arrow hands
3. the 42mm size is almost perfect for me

I'll get pictures up soon if I can easily figure out how to post them.

First Omega Pictures

here is a picture of my new Speedy.

I hope I am uploading the picture correctly. I am going to have to work on my picture taking skills. The picture doesn't do the watch justice. But, it is the best I can manage right now.
