Sweet. I have the iPhone 4 and have an upgrade but I don't want to "waste" the upgrade just incase the "iPhone 5" does come out sooner than later.

x2...It's gonna take a little more than Siri to make me waste my upgrade this time.

I've always been a PC guy but I'm loving my iPad 2 and now my 4S.
So what are our best dressed Rolex owner iPhones wearing for cases, carriers etc.
I don't want Siri to feel bad when she sees the watches and pens.

Hi Paul, I did have the 3, then bought the 4 and 10 months later ended up flipping it for a Galaxy S2. I dont regret it at all!

So I am going to say, buy Galaxy S2 or the newbie in a few months. It will take apple at least 2 revisions before they catch up to current standards other makers are giving their customers. And when they do catch up, they will still be lacking..

I have to agree with Gary. iPhone 4 works very well with iOS 5 ... unless you want Siri ...

Fortunately for FedEx, the launch was SUCH a disappointment...

Twice as fast, tons of new features, who did Apple think they would fool? Without a roman numeral V, who will buy?

Smart money must be on the sidelines, waiting to see what the October 2012 phone or Samsung's next attempt.

Wow!! I didn't think it sold That well.

I upgraded from the 3s also and love it. What an improvement. The retina display is amazing.
It's very quick. The photos are taken instantaneously and look great. Siri is a lot of fun and iMessage is great.

First Impressions

I know the media has been hyping the "disappointment" in the 4s being delivered over the 5, but all I can say is they are WRONG (so does the stock price and the sales figures!)

After playing with my 4s since Saturday, I am more and more impressed with this phone

My observations-

1)3G speeds are significantly faster now on AT&T. Evidently there is a 3g boosting technology on the 4s which only works on AT&T. I wasn't expecting much, but DAMN this thing is fast. Almost any web pages come up with very little delay, video streaming is great. I ran the Speed Test app and was seeing 5 Mbps on the downloads!! Even in SF, where my 3GS barely received a signal half the time until recently was showing 3Mbps on the downloads (AT&T has improved coverage around my office the last few months).

2)SIRI is amazing. Some of the voice requests (like "Is it going to rain tonight") are somewhat of a novelty, but the artificial intelligence has some real potential and I can see where this is going in the future. The accuracy of the voice recognition is great. Being able to set reminders, write notes, as well as writing and sending emails and IM without ever typing is great. I know voice search apps exist (like google) as weill as voice dictation (like Dragon), but this just seems to work so much better.

3)Processor speed.....BIG improvement over my old 3GS

It is a no brainer to get a 4s if you have a 3GS........if I had a 4 and was happy with the performance, I might wait a year, but the 4s is a big improvement, even over the 4.

Great comments, Charles. My wife and I have 3GS and these comments have pretty much convinced me to upgrade.

I received my 4s on launch day and love it. I gave my 4(32gb) to my wife and am selling her 4 (16gb) this week. The improved performance alone makes a huge difference. Siri works very well and is not like any other voice recognition app available. I haven't played much with the camera so I can't really comment on it but I hate how ios5 changed the way you zoom.

Saving the upgrade for the 5 doesn't make sense to me. Apple, best case scenario, won't release the 5 until Q3 next year. I'll be eligible for another upgrade by then so I'll enjoy this one until then.

I don't find myself regretting Apples decision to forgo a bigger screen either. I like the size of the 4s, as it fits in my pocket just right. Also, this thing is so fast, lack of 4g does not seen like that big of a deal. 4g and a bigger screen were the 2 big items everyone seemed to be after on the 5.

Well, not "everyone". The media. Keep in mind, here's the media's consistent talk track:
1. Android is cool, because it's somewhat open.

2. Open will prevail, because that would be cool.

3. A 4" phone screen is better than a 3.5" phone screen. A 5" phone screen is better than a 4" phone screen. A 9" phone screen is better than an 8" phone screen etc. Repeat for any specification.

4. 4G is present in a few markets, therefore, everyone should pay for early generation 4G hardware. Payment to be in the form of dollars, size, heat, stability and battery life, for a feature that will benefit few users.

5. Apple, if you see the light and follow us on #3 and #4, we will select you over Android. (ssh... Except we won't, see #1 and #2).

That's why you see simultaneous headlines of "iPhone 4S Disappoints" and "iPhone 4S Doubles Previous Sales Records" in the same breath.

I'm a huge fan of Apple products but this 4 million sales number is misleading and should not be used when comparing it to previous launches. How many AT&T iPhone 4S's were sold? The previous generations were sold under one carrier the 4S has three
