Silly question...

My brother just bought an Omega Speedmaster Pro and is scared to go swimming with it because it has no screw down crown and is only rated at 50 meters.

I say you can swim with it, nut he won't believe me and wants the pros here to chip in.

Thanks

Tell him to quit being a Nancy! Lol

Tell him he needs to return it and go shop in the women's display cases instead......

He's right. Makes sure he never wears this watch while it's even remotely humid. 50 meters is only about a half of football field

Seriously though, tell him to wear it, enjoy it and stop worrying.

He's fine. Although he will experience positive pressure on his speedy against negative on the moon....

I say you can swim with it but to be safe I would get a casio or another rubberized watch for sport purposes since you don't want to scrap the watch against the concrete sides of the pool especially that beautiful hesalite crystal ...eeek

Well it's water resistant but, to be honest, I don't think it's necessary to swim with a watch (unless you like to dive but then a Seamaster Professional or a Planet Ocean would be my choice). I think you should tell your brother that it pretty much means he can fall in the pool without having to worry about his Speedy!

I bought my SMP in St. Thomas and within 2 hours I was snorkeling in salt water with it. No problems. The only watch I own that I would not do that with is my DD.

I think he'll be fine. I shower with mine on most days (newer model rated to 50m too) and would have no fear of jumping into the pool/sea with it on. Just be careful to avoid hitting the pushers that's all.
