Should this defect be a 'no deal'? Or no big deal! ?
I have been searching for this watch for months. I decided I wanted it right when Omega discontinued it. :(
Problem is, the listing says 88% good, 'lume flake on the dial'. Is this going to really be a big deal being able to read the time? I was so impatient waiting to find this watch, I did buy the 36mm but I don't LOVE it. And even though I love the lume, it doesn't say bright very long and I don't look at it much. I mostly just check the time in the daylight. And I want it for daily wear and perfection and future value in this used watch isn't all that important to me. Size and comfort and the ability to read the time well is more important. Got any photos of 'lume flake'? http://www.ebay.com/itm/130590211275...ht_8464wt_1034 Suzy

It's only $127! If you want it, but it. No use troubling yourself over $127...

It's not 127 .. that's the current auction high bid, which is meaningless since the real bids come in within the last 2 minutes (this one has 5 days to go).
I don't know much about Omega but personally I'd prefer a bigger size (for a lady's watch) and the lume flakes floating around on the dial would drive me mad (I don't think they would be an issue to tell time though). Quartz is a no go for me as well. If I were you and assuming you like that size, I'd try to save a bit more and pick up a used Rolex Lady DJ.

With all due respect to the other fellows who suggested to buy a Rolex instead (as much as it is a great idea) I don't think this would work for you. It seems like you really wanted a smaller size of the Aqua Terra (29mm, checked!) that would be a daily beater (stainless steel watch, checked!) and you don't mind about the resale value (quartz movement, checked!). To be honest, at this price I'd at least give it a try and bid on it. As for the lume flake, you said yourself that you rarely noticed the lume on the markers and you usually look at the time in the daylight so I wouldn't see it as a problem. If you really can't stand it anymore you could buy another dial from Omega someday (I do believe they have some 29mm dials somewhere in their inventory).
In conclusion, I'd go for it! You'll get a daily beater that gives the time (with a lot of accuracy) at a very good price and at a good size for you!

If that's the watch you really want, buy it.

Thanks. I just didn't really understand what lume flake was and if it was that big of a deal. I assume its bits of the lume floating around in the face, but wasn't sure. I DO plan to bid, but the timing is horrific for me. I'm on a train to the mountains, so if I make it to a cell signal in time I'm going to try. And I'm curious to see how many bidders try for it. I'm not willing to overpay for it in some feeding frenzy. And, yes, 30/31mm is the perfect size for me for metal bands. I can handle 36mm options on leather. And I already have my grail Rolex. But I don't wear it daily. I want a black beater! Cheers! Suzy |

If you are around, place your absolute maximum bid within the last minute of the auction. I found that to be the best method. I usually hit "place bid" with 15 seconds to go.

Yes, I'm a master 'sniper'. However, that's when I'm at home. We'll see how I do while traveling!
Thanks though! Suzy |
