Another newbie question

Hi i'm trying to figure out the value of my grandfather's rolex. According to my dad it is a 1946 rolex oyster perpetual self winding (first self winding model rolex made allegedly?) hooded bubbleback 18k gold chronometer. original pen and pencil hands, original everything. Excellent condition. Sorry i don't have a picture.

Could someone let me know what this is worth or point me in the right direction to figure it out myself? Thanks.
