It's gorgeous! I'm currently looking for a circa 1963 214 with the chapter ring. Not easy to find one in the condition I would like. I'd love to have the "alpha" you have, but 1) they're sold out, and 2) $4000?
Enjoy that beauty! |

With the 50th Alpha, as I understand it, about the first 600-700 serial-ed watches were reserved for the US and the rest went overseas. Each dealer was given 2 watches. There are a few dealers and sellers who sourced quite a few to make a quick buck I guess and you can get them if available from them, at about 5%-25% or even more if lucky off the $4k list price new, depends on how badly they need the money and need to offload their stock. I guess once they all get into collector hands over the next few years then they would be harder to come by. But irrespective of what the future holds for this collectors piece in terms of monetary market value, it's a stunning and iconic hand made watch with a rich American heritage and a unique movement which hums and looks like no other. Plus, I don't think I will ever meet another of the 1000 guys who wears one in the wild that easily, well, except for my son when he grows up I guess , since got two of these Spaceviews, one for myself and one for my baby son who was born in 2010:).

Here's a pic I found of Richard Branson sporting the 50th Spaceview in 2010 during the inauguration of Bulovas boutique in China, wonder what serial number/1000 his had:)
