First post and a question

My Rolex story goes like this...
I 1987 i bought a SS Datejust with a silver dial. At that time the iconic Rolex was the TT datejust but i just couldn't afford it. I think i paid about $1700 for my SS.

Around 1993 i drove to NYC and dropped the watch at Rolex for servicing and had the dial changed from silver to black because telling the time at a glance was difficult with the silver dial. At that time when you had the face changed Rolex gave you back the old face.

Then around 1999 i again took my watch to Rolex in NYC for service and had the black dial replaced with a sort of dull blue dial just for something different. This time Rolex kept the black face. In August of this year i had the watch serviced for a third time at Rolex but no dial change this time. I was a gorgeous watch and i wish i would have found this forum before i sold my watch because i would have much rather sold it to someone i "knew". Someone out there is going to get a beautiful, well cared for watch.

Also, around 1999 i bought my wife a TT lady datejust but she only wore it sparingly and mostly it sat in the safe. My wife really wanted me to sell her watch because she wasn't wearing it. After 3 bouts with cancer it bothered her to wear it. Thank goodness she's fine now but the watch was never comfortable for her.

So in early November i sold both my and my wife's watches and bought a new Submariner. I loved my datejust but had been wanting a Sub for a long time. Little did i know about the recent upgrades made to the Sub but i'm extremely happy with the ceramic bezel and the new clasp. i especially like the Rolex crown(?) on the clasp.

Thanks to all the people who frequent this forum. I am learning much by reading your posts!

And my question is why don't you see Rolex watches in Watch Time magazine?

Watch Time focuses on cutting edge trends in watchmaking and haute horologie. That's not Rolex's wheelhouse.

Rolex is covered in Watch Time Magazine, just not that often.

First off I am glad your wife is healthy.
Secondly welcome to TRF and wear your watch in good health. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right watch.

Welcome...
I remember reading the review of Rolex Air King, IWC Portofino and Panerai 000 in that magazine.... so they did cover Rolex...

Congrats on the Sub!!

Watch Time has done feature articles and tests on numerous Rolex watches.
I own cover issues featuring the DeepSea, Exp1, Sub LVC to name a few.

Rolex is definitely in there including many covers, off the top of my head the new DSSD got the cover last year. Also the LV got the cover. And the Explorer.

Thanks again for the welcome, well wishes and info.

I don't often see a Watch Time mag (occasionally i find one at Barnes and Noble) so i have missed the issues talking about Rolex watches.

I loved my datejust for 20+ years but after retiring from the corporate world i started liking the more casual / rugged (imho) look of the Sub.
