Haven't been around in a while. Used to have a sea-dweller but sold it...

I was now able to get my hands on a D Series SS submariner w/Date for a great price (at least I think) that should be arriving this week.

If I can I'm going to see if I can find a way to keep it, if not, the plan is to flip it and make a buck. Either way I can't wait for it!! Been so long since I held a rolex in my hand (been heavy into IWC watches of lately). What, besides the cyclops, was different between the sub and the dweller?

Dweller has HEV while the sub does not, the Dweller can go 4000ft while the sub does not.

The Dweller has an extra "L" link for larger wet suits, the sub does not.

Bezel ring on Dweller is thicker while the sub is thinner.

Crystal is thicker on the dweller and is higher - more prone to being chipped.

Other than those differences that I know (others can add), both are great choices.

Sea Dweller has a helium escape valve, rated to 4,000 ft/1220 m vs 1,000 ft/300 m, marginally smaller diameter (39.5 mm vs 40 mm), thicker (14.8 mm vs 12.8mm).

Is there a different way in which the polishing is done between the two? I thought I once read that..

The sides of the bracelet are polished on the SD not on the Sub.

Maybe to give the often neglected SD a little bling. I prefer the look. It goes well with the polished sides of the case.
