Stainless Oyster bracelet rebuild/repair?
My EXP II has developed a few loose places on the bracelet that are starting to concern me. The watch and bracelt were built in 2003/2004. It's a "no holes" watch, and the band has solid end links. On both sides where the first link attatch to the end link, it has loosened up quite a bit. I wonder if there is a way to remove the end piece from the first link, drill it oversized, and replace with an oversized pin? The other worn spot is the last link at the 6:00end of the band. There is a very thin rivet that goes through the last link, through the clasp and flip lock. It feels like it has enough play the rivet might be almost worn through. Can the rivet be replaced with an oversized one? I'm afraid this looks like the "weak link" on this watch. I'd hate to have it break while I'm out on the Harley. The rest of the Oyster looks normal, but I'm seeing a lot of wear at these three points. (ad 78790 a CL1)

You are welcome to diagnose and attempt your own repair on the bracelet, but from what you're describing, I think the easiest and most reassuring remedy is to trade it in at the Rolex service center, biting the bullet for the cost, but in the end, giving you a new bracelet that with proper cleaning should last far longer than your current one.
There are threads in the forum, mostly positive, about a guy named Michael Young in Hong Kong who can repair them, but from your description, the issues sound more serious than just 'normal' stretch, so that's why my advice is to just get a new one. Good luck. |

If the link in question is the permanent Link closest to the clasp, one could remove it and replace it with a standard link/screw replacement. If its the link closest to the end link (nearest the case)......well...... that's a tough one!
